I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times now & noticed this time that the hotel has deteriorated. There is a musty smell when you get off the elevator on the sevent floor. There wasn't much to like about the hotel apart from the roof top pool and it's location. Other than these two things everything else about the hotel was bad. Let’s get right to it: Manila is not for the faint of heart. This bustling, lively and complicated city was made for the bold and adventurous traveller. If you’re thinking “Sign me up!” you might also be wondering where exactly you’re headed. Manila is in the northwest Philippines, just across the China Sea from Vietnam—and with our deals on hotels in Manila, “The Pearl of the Orient” is sure to come out of its shell.
Whether they’re nursing a case of the Mondays or celebrating the arrival of the weekend, one thing is for sure in the Philippines—the people like to have a good time. We hope you brought your stylish clothes and party attitude in your carry-on, because many of the city’s top bars and clubs are near the airport. From chill lounges to super clubs, you barely have to leave your gate to get the party started. Of course, you probably want to check in to your accommodation in Manila first, so take a power nap and then plan your next move.
During the day, Manila holidays have plenty to keep you entertained until beer o’clock rolls around. Check out Fort Santiago at the mouth of the Pasig River within the walled city, or Intramuros. It’s served as a fortress, spice trading post, military headquarters and prison, all since the end of the 16th century! Pay homage to Manila’s national hero at the Shrine Museum for Jose Rizal, who inspired the revolution. Then experience a revolution of your own—in your mouth—with a sunset dinner cruise on Manila Bay. You can only hope they serve lumpia, a dish that is sort of like if a burrito and a spring roll had a baby, then deep fried it.
Flights to Manila land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), about 10 km from the city centre. Getting to Manila hotels is uber easy if you can arrange a shuttle ahead of time. Rather save your cash for that dinner cruise? Catch a taxi for the price of that coffee and pastry you got in the airport—and that’s cheap! They’re an easy way to get around too: just agree on a price beforehand so you don’t look like a mug. If your negotiating skills leave something to be desired, check out car hire options on lastminute.com.au and you’ll always get a great deal.
With temps in the low 30s year-round, Philippines accommodation always roll out a warm welcome. Manila really shows its colours during Flores de Mayo, a flower festival in May that packs streets throughout the country with pastel processions of elaborate rose floats. “The Queen of Festivals” boasts tons of food and an atmosphere even more festive than Rugby Championship day.
If you like your holidays like you like your mystery novels (a little tough to crack, but always rewarding), Manila accommodation can’t wait to introduce you to your new home away from home. Search the best deals on lastminute.com.au and get off your freckle and into adventure.
