Do not stay here

We phoned them from the airport asking if they could pick us up (they’re only 5.5 miles away). Not only did they say they would not they also said we had no booking! This was pretty stressful not so much for me as i’m used to travelling but me & my wife had travelled from England and we were knackered. This news was worse for my 80 year old mother in law who had travelled from L.A. So, I bought a SIM card ( you need a local number for grab) registered it, not straight forward in the Philippines, downloaded the “grab” app and ordered a grab taxi, this took two hours! My wife persevered on the phone whilst I was doing the above and eventually (10 mins or so) the receptionist found our reservation. On arrival we were checked in to 2 rooms on the 6th floor, the young man said that there would be some work on the 3rd floor the following day and we might hear some noise. The next morning we had breakfast, went to the pool for a couple of hours and about 1pm went to our rooms to rest as we were flying to our final destination the following day. We could not rest because of constant loud banging & drilling! The hotel is a 23 floor tower block by the way with the pool on the roof, that was good. I walked down to reception, it’s quicker than the lifts cause there are only 2 of them and the lift attendants frequently cancel call requests! I couldn’t believe it but the construction was on the 5th floor, right under our rooms! I demanded that they give us rooms higher up. So stressful

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming; always willing to help. The buffet dinners had a wide variety of choices from continental to Filipino food. My favourite was champorado with dangget. Room service was just as exceptional. We loved the truffle pasta, truffle fries and sinigang bagnet. Our bedroom was very comfortable; cleaned and tidied well everyday with a special note to take care in our outings in the rain from our room valet. The wifi was easily accessible and fast. The hotel's location had busy traffic in front but taxis can easily be flagged or Grab taxis can be called quickly. We will certainly book this hotel again next time we visit the Philippines.

There are other accommodations around this area that are higher priced (for example it’s bigger sister location across the street) and a handful lower priced and some hover around the same range. This particular property hangs in the middle with the best value for its price point. Pro-tip: amenities offered by the other hotels are still accessible (rooftop bars, spas, breakfast buffets, etc) as walk-in clients so if you need a no BS spot to crash while you explore the area, this is it. It’s clean, working AC, working TV and the staff is friendly. There’s a mall with a grocery store close by along with restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. Family life and red-light district elements collide here, but everyone just stays in their lane.

They are getting old

An okay hotel that is starting to feel worn out. The other hotel across the street with the same name but with GRAND in the name is much better and worth the extra money. They really should renovate the rooms now as they are becoming quite shabby. Another downside is that you only get 3 free printouts of your tickets, and if you, like me, have several tickets that need to be printed, you have to pay for the rest. In my opinion, that’s disgraceful.
