I went through Expedia to make a reservation with Best Western after missing my connecting flight from Miami to Norfolk, Va. It was the red eye flight, the next flight available is the next day. I made it to Miami late because AA kept delaying the flight out of Belize. My connecting flight doors closed while I was in customs. AA said they cannot approve a hotel voucher because of the delayed flight. I’m stuck in Miami over night so I reserve a room with Best Western for the night. I didn’t want to sleep in the airport. 15 minutes later, a passenger recognized me from the flight out of Belize and told me to go back to AA customer service desk because they are handing out hotel and food vouchers for my missed flight. I got the vouchers from AA and call Best Western to cancel the flight. The lady who answered the phone saw my reservation but said she couldn’t cancel it because it went through Expedia. I contacted Expedia by its messageing system and pleaded my case and sent the receipts. 3 days later, Expedia sends me an email saying that they are sorry but the Hotel said they can not refund for a delayed flight, only a cancellation. I replied back to Expedia and told them to let them know the full story. I was stranded in Miami because the delayed flight caused me to miss my connecting flight in Miami, that’s why I reserved the room. At the time I reserved it, AA denied giving me a hotel voucher to spend the night until the next day. Expedia replied back, No.
