Room and staff were nice. Location is also great. But my room often stank from smells drifting in the window from a nearby restaurant.. This may however not be an issue in the Winter, because they remove the AC unit so you can properly close the windows. I stayed there at the very end of the Summer season. Was told that the AC unit would be removed during my stay so that I could completely close the window, however, this did not happen during my 3-night stay

I was amazed that our room had a stove, dishes, pots and pans, and a big old walk-in closet. The staff was incredibly friendly. The food options in downtown Milwaukee were a little sparse, but the knick, the attached restaurant, was open until 11:00 p.m. And always helped feed me after a long day at the convention. Next time I'm in Milwaukee, I will look to book here again.

Historical building, nice enough for 1 night

All of the staff was super friendly and kind. Check in and check out was super seamless. Rooms are pretty underwhelming aesthetically- but for the price I wasn’t expecting the most lavish room. Cannot beat the location- lots of coffee shops and near to the lake and park and activities. I had a concert at Turner Hall & it’s only about a 4 minute drive away. There was quite a bit of siren noise at night and unfortunately someone’s car alarm went off at about 4:45AM & continued for a bit, waking me up, but also some noise is to be expected in the city. The bathroom wasn’t bad but the lighting is pretty dark. Room doors have a cool old-fashioned servidor feature that history buffs will appreciate like I did. Lobby was very clean and the area feels secure. Maintenance was coming around in the morning to work on the AC unit, around 10AM before checkout-it seemed a bit weird they would request to do that while a hotel guest is occupying the room, but they gladly said they could just come back after I checked out which was appreciated and probably just a one off. Parking was right next door to the hotel and only $20 for the night.

It's an older hotel and so it has some unique features. the windows open which is nice.

The historic hotel is in a great area of town. You can walk and take the public transit easily. I love the style of this hotel and it has history. My only issue is the hotel rooms. Have a conventional flair to it, which is kind of bland, not ultra modern and not part of the history of the hotel period. It almost felt like it was slapped together real quick. Knicks Restaurant and bar had terrific food and the service was nice.

Nothing was stocked!! The lobby smelled with some kind of spray. The hotel was old. They gave you a key instead of a key card. The hotel was called Knickerbocker on the Lake. Our view was the parking lot. Did not see the lake!! We did walk to a nice restaurant for breakfast called The Palmer House.

Really like these old hotels with lots of character. This building is half hotel and half condo which makes for a great mixture. The room was large and very comfortable. Real good choice.
