A True 5-Star Destin Experience

It was our first time to Destin, and hands down best stay ever- because of the hotel and location. We had a walk out patio with direct access to the beach. It’s a gorgeous white sand, clear warm water beach. The resort is astounding with several restaurants, an affordable breakfast buffet (kids eat free with adult purchase). They have several outdoor pools with daily activities, and even a huge indoor pool and hot tub for rainy days. The staff is incredibly accommodating and friendly, and beds are very comfortable. Not to mention the firework show from the hotel deck. This stay swayed me to become a Hilton honors member!!

Not worth the price

Hotel over all is nice. Cons- EVERYTHING is ridiculously overpriced, they charge a $100 incidental charge PER DAY, so right at check in they charged my card $400 which of course is refundable. They also charge a $40 a day resort fee, when I asked what is was for I was told it was instead of paying for parking “and things like that” they just lump it all into one charge…we flew here. The outdoor pool closes at 11 which is fine but they also kick you off the deck. So you can even sit outside and relax unless you go out to the actual beach. The deck is massive, and I understand if people are being loud but they came and kicked my 12 year old daughter and I off the deck for sitting in a chair listening to the waves and talking about the stars. Bartenders at the outdoor bar are rude and the drinks were terrible quality. Beds are mediocre and bedding is even worse. Beach gets so crowded and so much space is taken up by the beach chair service and more than half just sit empty. Pros- Nice rooms, kids loved the bunkbeds. Starbucks on site. Lots of dining options, free tram to Baytown Warf.

Air conditioner did not work as it should. There was black mold on the drapes next to the air vent. The light in the bathroom was out. I reported it on the day of arrival and nothing was fixed. I requested a different room because of the issues and did not like the spa tower. We have always stayed at the main tower but they said we could not change rooms!!

Good rooms. The semi-private beach adjacent to the hotel pools and outdoor space worked out fantastic. That was the key to the entire experience.

The stay at sandestin has always been excellent. This past time it lacked its usual standard. Perhaps due to the volume of guests staying for the Fourth of July. The fireworks were spectacular.
