Comfort Inn in Mount Airy was a pleasant surprise

The Comfort Inn in Mount Airy was such a pleasant surprise. We were looking for something moderately priced, close to the historic downtown (Mayberry) and were willing to compromise on accommodations. The Comfort Inn is a gem! The moment you walk in you’re greeted with a friendly smile from the front desk and the place looked great. Check in was simple and quick. The room was perfect - clean, modern with a decent amount of space. Couldn’t ask for more. Mt Airy downtown was kind of a letdown - not much to see and the Mayberry references were a bit stretched. The museum we visited - thinking it was the Andy Griffith museum, but not - was pretty boring and seems to be a little disorganized. We ended up going to a local brewery for dinner. Took way too long to get food and it was just average. Mount Airy was a let down but the Comfort Inn was a star!

We enjoyed our stay. Everyone was friendly. Easy check-in and out. The bed were wonderful!! Unfortunately the coffee was NOT enjoyable. There is plenty of food options offered for breakfast. We would stay again.

Wonderful staff!

The staff was amazing. They even offered me their personal food because most restaurants were closed due to weather. However, due to full capacity hot water wasn't ideal but I would still 109% stay here again

Clean and comfortable

Clean and comfortable. The 2 double beds though really are full sized and not queen. The breakfast was okay, but not great. More variety than many hotels, but the cooked food was not hot and the fresh fruit was not very fresh. Compared to other ‘convenient for travel’ hotels, it was above average.

Kurt at the front desk was very nice. The bed was the worst I have ever tried to sleep in. The mattress sunk down in the middle and hit the box springs!!!!! We got no sleep because of the mattress and the room was facing a major intersection with road noise all night long. Front desk said they would compensate us for the problems, but that did not happen.
