We enjoyed a nice room with balcony over looking the beach. Hotel was clean, friendly and the complimentary breakfast was very nice. Would book another stay, and most likely will.

I have satayed at many Holiday Inn Express locations and each has been positive. This stay was no exception to that rule. The front desk staff was professional and friendly. The breakfast was ample, just crowded; maybe a consideration for the future if possible is some kind of expansion of the breakfast dining area. that is a corporate issue, not local, but speaking of the breakfast, the woman attending the area was just as professional and friendly as the front desk staff. The room was clean, including the bathroom. Parking was easy, and having a waterfront-facing room made for even more positive. The proximity of the hotel to the destination also made for its own positive. Simply put, IHG coporate should be proud of the staff of this local and the hotel itself.

Things were clean, I'm not sure safe, as there was a drinking party of eight men around to pickup trucks right below are deck porch. My wife and I wanted to sit out and watch the ocean but early in the afternoon the party started late afternoon they were getting pretty lit... The talk got louder, more trash talk. I called the desk and they said that it's okay for them to have a drinking party below our porch...and even though the manager said they didn't know who was at the desk which is hard to believe, the desk said it was okay and there was nothing they were going to do about it. The manager then said that they were going to send somebody to ask them to move to another part of the parking lot. But by the time they got to that it was dark already and I didn't want to sit out. So we lost the afternoon completely watching the ocean and that's the whole reason we were there. I also can't believe that businesses like a motel or hotel can't control their property by disallowing drunkenness. The manager said when they sent the maintenance man out to have them move they were already gone. That's a lie. Somebody pre-warned them that they were coming but like I said it was already dark and much too late. For them to do anything about it they acted very slow as if they didn't really care. So out of 100 rooms I'm not sure how many were there mostly seniors because it's back to school time. Out of a hundred rooms 8 men take the majority in the eyes of Holiday inn Express.

The hotel cleaning staff was over-the-top accommodating and friendly. The girl running the breakfast buffet was over-the-top accommodating and nice to be around very welcoming. We tried to check in just a couple hours early after a very long flight and drive and were told that they would contact us if that was available, but did not even have our proper phone number and then call us five minutes before check-in to tell us we could check in early. That was a little frustrating and did not set a good tone.

Beautiful location. Stayed here several times over the years. Need carpet updates. Air condition unit was leaking into the room causing carpet to get wet. Few updates to rooms would make this perfect.

This has been our favorite spot in Nags head for years. We stay here once or twice a year. I booked a stay here through chase travel and had to cancel last minute because I had a blood infection and was admitted into the hospital. The manager denied my request to reschedule. Very disappointing for us. Giving up thousands of dollars in future revenue from a regular customer to keep 300 dollars seems silly. It’s not about money. Fortunately we have plenty of that. It’s about being understanding and compassionate. A bit of a lost art these days

Balcony door

My room was clean, the staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable. However, it was really windy outside so the balcony door constantly rattled. In the middle of the night, it sounded like someone was forcibly trying to open the door. I got very little sleep because of it. The latch that keeps the door closed needs to be a little longer on the short end so the door doesn't rattle back and forth.

Room had a great view and the beds were comfortable, especially the sheets. But the room had a terrible fish smell. I don’t think it was from the ocean. It was primarily in the entry way of the room, like maybe someone had put their dirty fishing boat shoe there.
