I read the reviews before traveling and was prepared for the hotel to not be THE most modern in its facilities, however, I am not an inspector and did not care for the esthetics, aged base boards window coverings and such, but the shower stall, the water leaked out each service, and rolled onto the floor that took a total of 4 towels each time to contain the water. This became a major inconvenience because walking to the toilet in the middle of the night, the cold wet towels could be a shock! Outside of this, the beds were firm and gave a good sleep. Each bellman and security we encountered were knowledgeable of the surrounding area and gave good instructions.

We were disappointed with our stay at Hyatt Grand Central New York. The room was not as clean as expected, and the wall around the shower had visible mold. The lobby area was also not well-maintained, and the staff were not friendly or welcoming. Overall, the hotel feels old and in need of significant updates.

The stay was not good didn’t have house keeping for two days even though we communicated the problems they were not attentive to them in a prompt manner especially since there’s destination fee for nothing basically the service should have matched the fee.

The location was perfect!! Front desk and housekeeping staff were wonderful! The staff at the snack shop were rude. It seemed they didn’t want to be there. The rooms are very outdated!! No coffee pots in room. You had to request shower gel. The beds were old…bed springs making noises. Bathroom vanities are falling apart. No microwave.

Overall the place was nice and it was comfortable. Being right on top of the subway made it super convenient as well. I did feel a couple of the staff could have been a bit nicer. Very sharp and annoyed I asked for help. Customer service just isn't what it used to be.

The front desk staff at the hotel is great and very accommodating. However, the overall condition of the hotel is quite dated and needs a refresh. The carpets, particularly in the lobby, are heavily stained, and the woodwork is all worn out. In our room, the wallpaper was peeling, and the paint on the bathroom ceiling was also flaking. They tend to nickel and dime guests for everything through their market. The amenities provided for soap, shampoo, and conditioner are very minimal. While there are brackets for dispensers in the shower, they only give you tiny bottles to use. Additionally, there are no water bottles or coffee service provided in the room; you have to get those yourself from the market. One evening, I visited the bar, where the music was excessively loud and inappropriate. The manager on duty was dancing with some of the female customers, who seemed to be trying to attract the attention of single men at the bar to buy them drinks. Overall, this hotel is definitely not a four-star property; it’s more like a three or, at best, a three-and-a-half. I would not recommend it and will not be returning.
