The first thing that hit us when we walked into our room was the smell. It was either a pet smell or carpet that was left damp and didn't dry well at some point. I'm voting on the pet smell because a guest was checking in next to us with a dog and needed a one of their pet friendly rooms, which are the ones on the lower level on the back side of the property. That was where our room was located.
There was mold up on the ceiling in the corners of the bathroom. The room really needed a complete update (no USB ports at all!) as well as a better paint job as the corners of the walls were maybe painted by a 5 yr old.
I will say that the desk employee was friendly and when he noticed I used a cane he saw that our room was on the 2nd floor and there were no elevators. So, he moved us to a lower-level room. Hence the room in the pet friendly hallway. I couldn't find a room at any other hotel, so I took a chance on this one. Won't be selecting Best Western again.
