Yes the bath was clogged and the water wouldn’t drain from the shower. The reception couldn’t help and told me to call. No answer! Also tried to book valet parking in advance and it wasn’t confirmed. It seems there is lack of connection between the reception and the management of the room. My biggest frustration was trying to call and no answer.

This historic hotel is quite unique and nice if you like older hotels. While it is well maintained, I took off two stars due to the following things. You have to run the bathroom water for over 7 mins to get hot water and the shower has low pressure with dripping water from the bottom the entire time you shower. Ok for short hair but not so great for my long hair. Pedestal sink not my favorite for using hot tools. I asked for a second set of towels on the evening before checkout to use in the morning and didn’t receive the towels. No maid service is included in the price. Unable to watch my favorite news channel or much of anything on the TV other than Hulu and old sitcoms. Kitchen was well stocked and nice. Mattress was too soft for our preference.

Pros: Great location. Within walking distance to grocery shopping and restaurants. Lake trail and beach are also walkable. Heated pool is a nice touch for a cool January stay. The one bedroom suite we stayed is nicely decorated with a nice kitchenette for simple cooking. Bed is comfortable. Cons: Checkin was a bit confusing because this is a condo complex with different companies managing the rooms. We did not even see a sign that says “The Tropicals” outside the building and we didn’t receive any pre-checkin instructions. POOR soundproofing. You can easily hear people cough and talk nextdoor. As someone who never had trouble sleeping, I was awakened by loud and passionate noise at 1:42 am followed by long phone conversations, two nights in a row. When the loud lovers checked out, the room nextdoor was occupied by a group of girls who enjoyed late night chatting and giggling. I could hear every word! So if you are a light sleeper which I am NOT, you better think twice before booking here or pray you will be lucky with a quiet neighbor like me.

The unit itself very new and clean Setback was the bedroom being warm - the AC unit was in the living area Also the TV cable steaming was unusable - streaming froze constantly and could not watch. The building is in need of updating and refreshing. The Hallways are dark and the drop ceiling dirty The carpets in the hallways were dirty and there was a general unpleasant smell. The entire staff however were very helpful and nice and you can’t beat the location.
