It's not the property. It's Taos. We were in downtown Seattle and Taos within a week. Taos was not as welcoming as Seattle.

It's a great old hotel in a wonderful location. The restaurant is expensive but there are lots of good options around. Our room was spacious, and interesting, but the air conditioner was inadequate and the WiFi was poor in the room. We found a lovely balcony inside the hotel where our laptops and phones worked better. Since it's so old and crazy, there are some maintenance issues like stains on the ceiling and windows that don't open right; but overall we found it very charming and we would go back again.

Main complaints no dresser in the king size bedroom to put any of your folding clothes away. When mentioned to the front desk, it went over their head. Nothing was done. No handle on the window to open. Water dripping, then pouring out of the air conditioning unit onto the window seal.

**Fantastic Stay at Hotel La Fonda** Our experience at Hotel La Fonda in Taos was simply outstanding! Upon our early arrival, we were greeted by an exceptionally friendly clerk who made us feel right at home after our long drive from Denver. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and courteous, making our check-in process smooth and enjoyable. The hotel itself was pristine, and our room was a true haven. It featured a wonderful shower that was both refreshing and relaxing, and the mattress was so comfortable that my husband and I slept like rocks throughout our stay. We also truly appreciate that Hotel La Fonda is welcoming to queer visitors and couples, creating an inclusive and friendly atmosphere for everyone. This commitment to diversity made our experience even more special. Overall, our stay at Hotel La Fonda was exceptional, and we can't wait to return to this wonderful property!

Plaza night life not conducive to sleep....

Great hotel, very well appointed and maintained considering its age. Staff were wonderful, went above and beyond. We got upgraded for free to the highest room. The hotel itself was fine, however being on the plaza, the noise was horrific every night. We like to sleep w/ the windows open, but the noise from random people in the square playing music, singing off-key, loud cars cruising at night, semi trailers delivering things at all hours of the night. We couldn't wait to leave so we could get a good night of sleep. We won't be back to stay at the Plaza, but will return to Taos. It's unfortunate police can't get involved to make it an enjoyable experience.

We have been here 20 times it is quaint, right on the square, walkable to everything and the manager is great. We always stay in one of the two rooms with a balcony. Book with the hotel they are great to work with.

Our room was disgusting, the ceiling had water damage, the air conditioning was broken and leaking, and there were dirty rags in the closet, a broken ironing board, and hair in the shower. I did not want to take my shoes off in this room, nor did I want to sleep in the bed. I asked the front desk attendant if we could change rooms, and he said they were sold out, which was strange because I only saw 2 or 3 other people in the hotel. Being a hotel manager myself, I tried to be as kind and understanding as possible and recommended that they not rent that room out again. The response from the gentleman at the front desk was, "Oh well, looks like you prepaid for it." The room was disgusting, and the operators should be ashamed that they rented a room like the one they did

This is a historic property so I expected it to be somewhat dated. The room was however, very dated. The air conditioner is loud and inefficient. Our room faced the plaza and the noise from the cars was very loud. Dining options were limited. Overall, I would rate this stay simply adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful though.

The hotel’s history is very unique. Coffee bar in lobby was great. Mattress & linens were good. Hotel bathrooms in lobby need to be updated! Decent AC in rooms would be great or splits that actually cool the room would work.
