Staff was excellent especially Veronica day shift in buffet, two of our waiters Felipe and Luis, concierge in platinum. The fact we had to change rooms because of water backing up in room was very inconvenient for everyone in our party. Little animals everywhere were very annoying and we were not able to relax in pool area or outdoor areas. Do not plan on returning to this resort

This our third time staying here and half the property is under construction with multiple amenities not available and previous amenities are no longer offered. Their website makes no mention of the construction and amenities no longer available. Very disappointed

Everything was great about the property, the food options, the staff, the service, the rooms, the pool, the beach. However, there is this princess royal agency that tainted our trip. For once, they harass you the minute you walk in to the resort, offering you free gifts, tours and such but the reviews online are nothing but horrible experiences. I wouldn't stay here again for that reason, they continued to chase me and get me to do a tour that supposedly included a cenote tour and tequila tasting.

The service and staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. However, the hotel itself feels quite old — both the common areas and my room were outdated. My room also had an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, and while the staff tried to fix it by spraying something, it only covered the odor temporarily and left the floor slippery. The rooms definitely need some updates, especially the furniture and wall paint. On a positive note, the buffet was very good, and the Mama Mia restaurant was great. The Mexican restaurant and Miso Thai were just okay.

The buildings need repair, main building needs more fan to cool the guest that are arriving. The main lobby does not look very welcoming, dirty, animal poop around the window, its old and requires serious updates, the washroom smells of sewer and limited food options in buffets. However, the staff of the resort are amazing especially Joseph in welcoming us and making us feel at home and Francisco in the restaurant, always smiles while serving.

Wonderful Birthday Celebration

I took my daughter to Mexico to celebrate her 30th birthday July 2, 2025-July 7, 2025. Our suite was beautiful with stunning scenery, and we enjoyed VIP status, which gave us access to the bars, pools, beach, and clubs at both the Grand Riviera and the Platinum Grand Riviera & Sunset Princess resorts. We had a great time shopping in downtown Playa Del Carmen, where we picked up some wonderful souvenirs and tequila. The buffet at the resort offered great service and delicious food. The Mama Mia, Le Fleur, Miso Oriental, and La Vaqueria restaurants were all excellent. A special shout out to Spa Maya for the amazing massages and for surprising my daughter with a complimentary bottle of champagne and a chocolate mousse cake for her birthday. I also want to thank the staff who beautifully decorated our suite with birthday decorations that I purchased from their vendor, as well as our server and chef at La Vaqueria, who went above and beyond to make sure my daughter had a fantastic birthday dinner. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is due to a couple of maintenance issues: the toilet ran periodically throughout the night, and water from the shower stall leaked onto the floor in front of the sinks. Although staff attempted to fix the issues, they weren’t completely resolved. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return especially to see the resort after the renovations and hopefully with the plumbing issues addressed.

Half off the hotel is closed for remodeling. But the half that is open is very ran down. Buffet and restaurants were not great. Smells like mold at every corner off the resort. They should off just closed the hotel completely, remodel everything and then reopen.

It was under construction while we were there so I feel like I can’t review it fully. Annoyed the resort did not communicate that they were closed. Staff were friendly and everything open was very clean. Mosquitos were horrible. You get bit the moment you step outside, but if you have bug spray it takes care of it.
