Underwhelmed

Very disappointed in the accommodations. The rooms are small and the furniture is extremely cheap. The chair was from the 1970’s and the bed frames were very low and cheaply made. For the price we paid I expected something better than a motel 6. The plus was the location.

Beware of the Train

One of the noisiest Hotels I have ever stayed in. The front door of the room was 7 metres from the road and some 20 metres behind the hotel is a train track for freight trains. This is not mentioned in the description and I was shocked at the noise when the train went past as we were checking in. We stayed the first night because it was a bit late to find an alternative. Around midnight and again around 5 in the morning the train rumbled past using its horn. The owner claims the other noise is because they are in the “entertainment district”. Almost the whole town was closed for the winter it was just traffic noise. The room description on Hotels.com is incorrect as it says a comfort king room which we booked has a separate bedroom and balcony. This appears to be the description for a Suite. What we got was a small dark room with little else in the room except one plastic chair. The owners response: “All our rooms are sparsely decorated because the main purpose of coming to OOB is to go to the beach. Beachgoers bring coolers, beach chairs, tents, blankets and luggage. Once all those items enter the room there is little space for anything else.” We left after one night as it was impossible to get a good nights sleep. We asked for a refund for the remaining two nights but the owner refused. Frankly. I am amazed how so many reviews on Hotels.com/Expedia are 10/10, many with no comments to back up the rating. It means an overall rating of 8.6 which we were fooled by.

Property was clean but old and run down rooms. Very noisy with the train going by multiple times a night. Very little sound proof between rooms. Owners of the inn were very kind and friendly… but overall I do not recommend this property
