Great value, great location

The hotel is a great value for your money. The rooms have been nicely updated although there are some parts that are evidence of an older building. The whole carpeting is old but the rooms have all solid flooring. The best thing about it is the location.

If your looking for Amenities/Good continental breakfast at the hotel, this isn't the place for you. It has a wonderful location with EVERYTHING in walking distance. We left our van in the parking lot 95% of our stay because we walked nearly everywhere we went.The service desk is very helpful and always staffed even late at night. The cleanliness is definitely below average, we had cobwebs in the corner of our room and the sliding patio door track was filthy. The patio connected to our room on the 2nd floor was conjoined by the neighboring room which I wasn't a fan of. There was cigarette butts outside the patio on the rooftop. There was a strong smell of marijuana in the hallway one night. They do basic housekeeping which is fine for our quick 2 night stay. The TV barely got cable, it was super fuzzy on certain channels and the last night of our stay it completely went out. Again for my family wasn't a big deal because it's in walking distance of the beautiful downtown St. Joseph and Gorgeous Silver Beach. We didn't spend much time in our room so it was comfortable for us to lay our heads at night. Also the bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan and you can hear everything from the neighboring room through the vent in the bathroom. Mediocre stay, if you are looking for top notch stay, this isn't the hotel for you. Otherwise this hotel is affordable and gets the job done especially considering we didn't spend a lot of time in our room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Silver Beach Hotel! We come to St. Joe every year but this was our first time staying here. We loved that it was right next to all of the shops and walkable to the beach. Rooms were pretty clean. Breakfast was convenient, just bagels, cereal, etc but still good. Only downside was the pool not being open especially since the lake was closed one day due to rough conditions. Overall it was great and we will definitely be back!

The smell of marijuana was strong every night, even on the 7th floor. The room was nice but the shower could use a little more attention (safety bars, slippery tub). Overall we would definitely stay here again. The staff was exceptional!

When we checked in to the hotel, our room had not been cleaned from the previous guests. The bed was unmade, there was towels on the floor and hair everywhere. When we went to the front desk, the guy apologized, but there were no accommodations offered and no other rooms available for our stay. We had to then find a different hotel to stay at. The location is nice, but it was not well kept, which I read on the reviews.

The location was perfect. Never used the car the entire weekend because everything was walkable - the beach, shopping, restaurants. St Joseph is one of the best Michigan beach towns and we will be going back often.

Hotel rooms were dirty and poorly cleaned, sliding glass door was broken in our room. I had told the front desk and didn’t seem to care. I waited for 20 minutes before calling the front desk again who advised that there was no maintenance on the weekends. We were also followed by what we were assuming a hotel worker that had an elevator key to our room. We had gotten off the elevator on the 3rd floor in which he had followed to see which room we were staying in. He walked further down the hall and turned around to look at us again before walking to the stairs and proceeding back downstairs. The bed in our 2nd room was also broken. Many of my families rooms didn’t have working refrigerators or appliances. Overall poor experience, HOWEVER, location was great proximity to downtown and the beach
