Great location to Colonial Williamsburg & Busch Gardens. Units are older, no elevators...3rd floor units are tough for older folks...great outdoor pool set up for kids...to many check out procedures and duties, not like a hotel accomodations.

Space/Amenities great, cleanliness needs work

Size & comfort of rooms were great. We requested 2nd floor unit so we would have a private washer/dryer. Kids loved the pool area & gym. Biggest drawback was that the rooms weren’t clean. I saw previous reviews about cleanliness, so brought my own cleaning supplies and cleaned unit myself upon arrival. Toilet seat had dried urine, floors were covered in food crumbs, bathroom counters were sticky from hairspray, among other things. Our family has a teenager, so we all prefer separate bedrooms for privacy that traditional hotels typically do not offer. Bedding/linens looked and smelled clean. Parking was very limited. We had to park in the overflow lot every night. (We also stayed during July 4th weekend, so maybe it was more crowded than normal.) Overall, it was good if you don’t mind doing some cleaning yourself.

We wanted a place that was spacious for 5 people, and had some fun amenities for our kids. The Colonies delivered on both. The 2 bedroom condo was spacious and had everything we needed. The two swimming pools were a hit with the kids. It was very convenient to attractions in Williamsburg and the surrounding areas.

There was a problem with some of the rooms at the Colonies so we had to move to their sister resort down the road. Due to the inconvenience they upgraded our room to a very nice 2 bedroom suite and gave us a complimentary 2 night stay for the future.

Didn’t get to stay but look forward to it soon

Sadly when I arrived I was told they’d try to contact me in regard to my stay and we’d have to be relocated. I know for a fact no one called but because I booked last minute and they did have a similar placement at their sister property, I wasn’t the least bit angry. They were friendly and even threw in a future stay for the inconvenience. I will say this however if you are checking in check in is at 4pm. But I’d be there earlier waiting if you are a bit inpatient. They get super swamped at check-in. Honestly I just wish they had actually called because we arrived before 4 there but by having to travel to the other property we didn’t get to get settled in until after 6pm

Friendly staff. Very clean accommodations. A little outdated but I did not expect anything else’s. Comfortable beds. . However, the bathrooms smelled very strongly of chlorine. Good cleaning options available that do not include bleach which is an environmental and health hazard. Chlorine smell even after 3 days and 6 showers. Too much!

The front desk staff were polite and helpful in person, however very rude and unhelpful over phone. There was a massive leak in our room where floor was soaked entire stay and had to have an extremely loud fan going in room. Tvs did not work in neither of bedrooms. I gave three stars because though I was disrespected over phone and person was very rude when I called because the carpet was completely soaked, when I walked up to front desk I was helped by a very sweet empathic employee that tried her best to fix situation. She unfortunately was unable to find us a new room due to no rooms avaliable, but was able to get us a refund to make up for the poor conditions.

Although i've stayed here before and I would stay here again. I must say that upon arrival, the staff was not as welcoming at the front desk. A lot seemed to be happening, and there was a lot of talking and mumbling, which for someone who's coming to kind of just relax, not getting the full attention of the staff at the front desk, it didn't feel unique. As we went into the room, the atmosphere and everything around us was definitely dated. Although the kids had a great time. I would definitely recommend renovating some of the areas in the rooms, upgrading some of the furniture as it was definitely worn and by the pool side, definitely adding possibly some quick finger foods and refreshment.

First time staying at The Colonies and we will definitely stay again next time we’re in Williamsburg. The property is nicely located near the outlets, supermarkets, and restaurants. The pools are great, just the right size to keep an eye on the little ones. And the rooms are spacious and clean, albeit dated. The couch in our room may have very well belonged to George Washington :) so I’d suggest they keep their furniture more up to date since many families use the living room space. Outdoor space for each unit was great for a morning coffee, and there is parking outside of each unit. All in all, a great stay, and we’ll be back.

Rooms are little outdated/could use some sprucing up. The outdoor pool area was great for the kids ans enjoyed the adults only hot tub. It was a little bit of a pain to get into the room as we had to scan through 3 doors and when your hands are full and have kids its an inconvenience.
