Wonderful renovated historic hotel with helpful, friendly staff, lovely lobby and great Old Town San Juan location. Bedrooms need a bit more work on floors and baseboards. Rooftop area was quiet with views of town and comfortable seating, a great place for a late night drink. Would like to come back soon!

Perfect stay

The staff was excellent, the room was perfect, and the 24 hour bar with complimentary drinks was incredible. Next time I'm in Old San Juan I will definitely be staying at El Colonial.

Location, location, location! Very conveniently located in Old San Juan. And five minutes walk from a taxi station. Service was good. Having said all this, we would not use this hotel again. Most rooms have windows that open inside the hotel on a common area. We asked to change room and were moved to one with a real window! Bathroom was basic, with no shelves and shower with inconsistent hot water. Room was small but had the very essential.

Great little place for a cosy stay in the heart of Old San Juan. I would t for more than a few days though.

We were in Room 206 and the water pressure and temperature was constantly sporadic. Other than that el Colonial was absolutely amazing! Perfect location. Everything was walkable. So many places to explore, eat and drink at.

Amazing Hotel staff ,location was right in the middle of Old San Juan. We walked everywhere we went. No elevator was a pain but manageable and very small rooms and bathrooms. Our door handle on the room was not secure and the bolts kept coming out of the door. Didn’t feel like our room was secure.

Disappointing/Will not stay again

Last two days of our stay, no hot water. Floors filthy. Requested room to be cleaned. Requested Hot water. While on a excursion recieved a message saying everything had been addressed. That message was a lie. Absolutely nothing had been done! No bed made, No fresh towels, No Hot water (Had to shower cold!) Had to complain to staff to get someone to come up. Old furnishing. I do not recommend.
