This hotel is very nice and tastefully decorated. I give it 4 stars. It's a bit pricey for the quality level, but it's Mackinac so somewhat expected. We reserved a 2 BR suite as we were traveling with my adult daughter, and the room lay out was strange. 2 baths, but weird lay out. It was an obvious conversion from a space that had other purposes. Just not what I'd expect at the price level charged. Overall the hotel was clean and the staff friendly, barring the restaurant manager who was somewhat gruff.
Perfect location with everything you could need on property! Bike rentals right in front of the hotel and restaurant/bar options! The front porch and yard had perfect areas to relax, hang out, and just take in all the island’s beauty! Would stay here again when coming back to the island!
The property and room were great! The only thing we would have liked would have been a complimentary breakfast option - the room cost itself is on the high side so it would have been nice to grab a quick breakfast before taking off to explore the island.
Location is great,. Did not like basic room but upgraded to great corner room with views.
We were not told at check in that breakfast only served until 10 AM and we missed by 2 minutes, but staff would not serve us. Everything else fantastic.
Love the hotel however it is in serious need of upgrading to be in line with the price per night. Bathrooms are not accommodating and the set up just needs serious updating/ remodeling. 1852 restaurant is wonderful with great food and service.
This was a beautiful property with friendly staff members. On site amenities such as restaurants and bike rentals were convenient. The hotel was close to the downtown area so it was easy to walk everywhere.
Beautiful classic hotel. Very well kept and friendly staff. They also have a wonderful restaurant with a terrific menu.
And great views from the large covered porch!
My first time on Mackinac Island and the staff here were so helpful and efficient. The 4th floor room in the dormered part of the building was big enough for one person. I appreciated that there was still a small table and chairs in the room.
I misplaced my credit card in the hotel restaurant, and both the front desk staff and the restaurant staff were very helpful in assisting me with locating it.
The hotel was beautiful. Right off the downtown shopping area.
The property is in excellent location! The restaurant on the property was outstanding! Quality food and the service was superb! The property was comfortable. The rooms walls were thin. I kept hearing kids run up and down the hallway. Overall the property is a decent choice if staying on the island.
Beautiful property. Rented the Premier Suite for 5 ladies. We had a great time! I wish for the price, a continental breakfast be included, along with a free bike rental! It wasnt cheap, and it was on the 4th floor, with elevator only going to 3rd. Also we intended to use "indoor" heated pool, but it was 40 degrees in the evening, and you have to walk outside on the walkway to go back inside to pool.
Island House was conveniently located within walking distance of most everything. The room was well maintained and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Poor looking hotel with a hefty price tab. The only saving grace was a grocery store about 2 blocks away that was open from 7:30 am to 10 pm.
