Train noise unbearable. i contacted the hotel after booking requesting to stay in a room on a high floor as reviews about train noise was concerning. this past weekend. I stated that we were coming from North Queensland for a break and needed a quiet room. i received a response saying that i needed to lay $20 extra per night to guarantee staying on floors 11-14. I was disheartened to have to pay extra to guarantee a high floor room. However, I figured that if there are 10 levels for Harbour Bridge King rooms which is what i booked, chances are following my specific request I would most likely out of good will on the part of the Hotel, have a room on a floor closer to floor 10.
What I didn't expect was to check in and find that we were allocated Room 202. For two days/nights, the train shook the room. it was also so loud we needed to shout to speak to each other. all day and night. Although the view was nice, I am have no doubt something higher up and still a Harbour Bridge King would have been better.
I don't know if rooms are allocated by Reservations or by the check in staff. I found the person who checked us in to be very condescending. She looked at my partner and I like we were garbage. I was considering booking the hotel for a future function with at least 20+ rooms required. Not anymore. "Big mistake. Huge".
