Location, room and initial staff interactions were great. We had been hiking and only planned a one day stay. The problems arose in taking a shower the first night. The shower only had one water temperature. Scolding hot !! We could not take showers and had to bathe in the sink. We contacted the front desk the next morning. They said the manager would contact us. He never contacted us. I even called in mid day. No call or any other response from this hotel. I can’t recommend a property that seems unresponsive. I’m assuming the shower is still not fixed.

The hotel rooms need to be refurbished. Some bugs in bathroom. Loud AC unit which was falling off the wall, parking not so easy with a large vehicle. Friendly staff, great location, old time vibe.

It's truly a historic property and totally in character for Taos. Both the onsite restaurant and bar are frequented by locals and really great hangs. Delicious food and well made cocktails plus daily live music. Our room was very comfortable in a rustic way. Friendly staff. Great place!

I stayed at this property in mid-October and was very disappointed with the experience. The building is old and poorly maintained. During my stay, nighttime temperatures dropped into the low 30s, but the hotel informed me that their furnace wasn’t working during the shoulder season. They did provide a small heater, but it took nearly five hours to make even a slight difference—hardly surprising given the poor insulation around the doors and windows. Even after hours of running the heater, the room was still so cold that I had to keep my jacket on. To make matters worse, I couldn’t take a shower in the morning due to the inadequate heating. Overall, the stay was uncomfortable and disappointing. If you have other accommodation options, I strongly recommend choosing them instead.

A charming historic hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff located in the center of Taos. Very nice restaurant and bar, with entertainment on selected nights. Great parking located behind hotel complex. If you’re looking for a laid back, cozy older hotel, this is the place to stay!

It was great EXCEPT the A/C in Sandoval House was shut down for the season and it was too warm to sleep comfortably sleep until the cool front came through on Thursday 10/16. i did not get a good night's sleep until then. I know you want to keep things as authentic as possible, but I strongly suggest that you install those white, horizontal cooling units inn rooms without independent A/C.Too warm to sleep well
