This property is close to Capitol Reef Park. It had two large rooms. One with a sofa and a second TV. There was also a restaurant on site. The food was good. The staff was friendly and welcoming

Property is grossly misrepresented in photos. This is not a resort, it is a motel straight out of Season 1 of Schitt’s Creek. To add insult to injury, we were not given the room we booked months in advance (booked for queens and a patio… recieved a first floor room with double beds and a nice view of the parking lot). Our door would not lock from the outside, forcing us to check out way earlier than we wanted rather than wait for maintenance to show up to fix it. When we checked out and mentioned these issues, the front desk told us to take it up with Expedia. Complaints were made to Expedia, who reported that the hotel “had a strict refund policy” and even though I didn’t get the room I paid for, they refused even a partial refund. If you have an issues at this property, don’t leave until it’s resolved or you’ll be out of luck. It’s slim pickings for accommodations in Capitol Reef and we were by no means expecting a 5 star hotel, but this place was a huge letdown. Being told to pound sand by the property when there were problems was the icing on this Schitt’s cake.

Excpet for the front desk staff, everything else was good but not great and within my expectations. The receptionist was not friendly when I asked for an early check in. I understand the room was not available and I had to wait for 2 hours, but she could have been more sympathetic, a friendly smile and just a "sorry, we ca´t do that right now" would suffice. Instead, I got a unfriendly "you can´t checkin until 3:30pm".

DO NOT let the picture fool you. This is a very deceiving picture, and not reflective of the property. IF you do decide to stay here in the main hotel insist on the top floor even though you will have to climb stairs because there is no elevator. If you stay on the first floor you will hear every thing from foot steps to the toilet flush and even the person above your bed taking a shower. Very poor construction methods for a hotel. If you stay down stairs there is 22 steps down at a steep angle to carry your self and your belongings. Pool and Hot tub are out side, so you can only use them in the hot months.

Capitol Reef Resort is conveniently located right outside of Capitol Reef National Park which was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. The rooms are a bit dated but clean and the view was very nice. There was an alarm clock in the room that was set to 5:45am so we were woken up bright and early... I don't see alarm clocks in hotels very often anymore so we didn't think to check that it was set. Staff should really double check that when they get the rooms ready. Breakfast was absolutely awful and on top of that you have to pay extra for it. My omelet was way overcooked, the spinach was extremely soggy and the potatoes tasted like nothing. The grounds are well maintained and it was enjoyable taking a walk around the property. There are quite a few activities available if you are staying longer. Considering how much we paid I cannot give this more than 2 stars.

Close proximity to various sites in Capital Reef, however the photos totally upsell the property and you’ll be left a bit surprised. It’s basically a motel.

My wife has been here before, first time for me. Wonderful location—nothing more amazing after a hard hike than soaking in a hot tub with that view! Staff are friendly and the onsite rest is decent (though a little pricey if bringing a whole family). Rooms aren’t and comfy with spectacular views. Only knock against the property is that it’s a bit old and needs a little refreshing, but I’d still probably stay there again.
