Unexpected renovations, no toiletries in our room, hidden fees, not all amenities included, and poor communication from the hotel staff made this experience a terrible one. The hotel was doing major renovations during our stay. The entire parking lot and the roads leading up to the hotel were being resurfaced. It was loud and the fumes of the asphalt sealing was making my kids sick and we couldn't use most of the amenities (pool, laundry, playground, etc) because they were eventually blocked off. We were even stranded from our vehicle because they started re-paving between where our car was parked and our room. At no point did any of the hotel staff notify us what to expect or how long the renovating would be going on. We stayed a few days and then requested to leave early. They refused to refund us since our trip was prepaid. They also added an "extra guest" fee because we have a baby. Again, they never notified us of this fee, they just tacked it on after we left and billed us for it. Aside from the construction, the beds were not made and the toiletries were never replenished during our stay. They did enter our room each day to empty the garbage and give new towels, but what good are new towels if we have no soap? I've never stayed in a hotel that doesn't replenish the basic toiletries each day.

The wagons are bigger than they look. Our family of five fit perfectly. Luggage storage is below the bed and there is outside storage too. The private bathroom is a VERY short walk and was nice and clean. The boys loved the pool, corn hole, and the swings. We roasted hot dogs over the fire. During the day the wagon gets pretty warm but I spent time on a pool chair reading a book and taking a nap in the shade.

Room had been nicely updated. There were still a few things that needed to be touched up but for the most part very nice. Breakfast was OK and i thought it was nice to have to option to have dinner on the properry. Kids love the pool and it was nice that there was sliding glass doors around it to allow for ventilation.

Adventures

Traveling with grandchildren and thought sleeping in a covered wagon would be a fun experience, which it was. I appreciated the private bathroom just not the walk to get to it. The wind storm made me imagine what it must have been like as a pioneer travling across the country. The wagon was very comfortable and beds were great.

Okay for a one night stay but definitely not a 9.2 as rated on Hotels. com. Clean and roomy yes. Refurbished roadside motel but it’s like putting lipstick on a pig. Noisy, wind comes in windows and light comes in windows at night. Door needs weather stripping. Light comes through in daytime so it’s not sealed. Hot tub did not run. Hot water but no pressure in jets. We had a strange chirping coming through the vent in the restroom. Like a battery was low on a smoke detector but no smoke detector inside the vent. Reported to front desk but not corrected during our stay. Breakfast was ok as long as you don’t mind watery eggs. I’d give this place a 5 rating out of 10 to be honest.

When we checked in the room it was not properly prepared for guests. No soap, shampoo, coffee. I had to stop @ desk twice & was informed they were out of individual coffee packages. They do have laundry facilities but were unable to break $20 to use them. The food & service at restaurant was excellent for dinner. I’d go back for dinner but stay at a different hotel. This is an older motel with stairs & no elevator.

For one night the conestoga wagon was fine. Beds were decent. It was really cold at night and there weren't enough extra blankets - we ended up having to move kids into one bed and bundle them up with what blankets we could get. The wagons are REALLY close to each other. We laid there for hours listening to the family next to us laugh and talk into the early morning hours - they weren't being loud, that's just how close they are. The restaurant was excellent and the bathrooms were great.

Overall I had a pleasant stay. The only disappointing aspect was the fact that the hot tub was out of service and I didn’t find out until I went to use it and saw the sign. It would have been nice to be told about it upon check in so I didn’t go in looking forward to a good soak only to be disappointed.
