To be honest, we almost turned around. The GPS brought us in to an entrance that looked nothing like the picture. Overgrown weeds, questionable neighborhood, peeling paint.
The lobby was overflowing with a loud tourist group but the young man at the desk was professional, friendly, calm and told us that our room was not ready(which we knew) and we could put our luggage in the back room. Hubs was not so sure that was a good idea. But on we went with our day plans.
Came back and all was calm, received our key and went to our room. Lots of older decor but very clean. Room was great and so comfortable. The old bathroom counter had exposed Formica base in a couple spots. Not peeling but sanded and clean. The bath needed a complete upgrade from 1970 but was all perfectly functional and clean. The towels were plush the sheets were crisp and comfy. AC was cool. We didn’t see the view from the ad until we walked home from the restaurant they suggested. (Again a little nervous about the neighborhood.) Yes there was the photo I saw but the overgrown shrubbery and landscaping really detracted from the handsome building. The restaurant was also a big surprise too. Very good, high end food at reasonable price!
