I grew up in Vancouver and Granville island has always been a favourite spot for me though I've never stayed at the Granville island hotel prior to yesterday. Take the charm of granville island and bake it into a romantic staycation with the better half and it's quite an experience that rivals some vacations abroad. The hotel staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. I had requested the upgrade for a waterfront view but there were no rooms available with that but when I looked out of my balcony window after check in I was pleasantly surprised that I had a partial waterfront view of alder Bay with no upgrade charge. The rooms are tidy and well appointed. Big comfy bed and a small fridge to put some fruit salad I had brought back from the market. Parking was right in front of the hotel with the parking pass so it was super easy to get in and out. If you didn't come in your own vehicle there are buses that run right outside the island. The island itself doesn't require a vehicle as it's always nice to trot around on foot looking at all the artwork, natural scenery, and abundance of good food. If you want to take on some water sports like kayaking, rentals are available. Boat tours, and party cruises, and BBQ boats run year round in this area. My better half loved the little getaway from our hectic lives in the middle of this quaint little place within the urban sprawl. I would highly recommend a stay here whether you are from out of town or have lived and grown up in this city

Was told by front desk that I had to go find my own parking elsewhere because they had no space. He hands me a credit card reader, but I already paid for the room, only when I questioned did he tell me it’s for incidentals (too snobby to talk to me to explain that). Then I asked for the bell cart and he point vaguely and says over there, but I’ll get someone to help you. He didn’t and I had to do it all myself. The room is very small and super dated. Most of the exterior of the building needs a pressure wash and some of the view glass is all cloudy. There’s more, but you the point. Not good for the price paid

I have stayed here before and will again. The staff is pleasant and the hotel is clean. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Close to all the wonderful offerings of Granville Island.
