We had barely gotten into our room when we were greeted by two huge cockroaches in the bathroom. I went to tell the front desk when another huge cockroach scurried up the wall next to the door. They tried to move us to a new room but there were bad smells on that side of the hotel. And at some point my son got bit my something. So we checked out. The hotel needs condemned. DO NOT STAY HERE!

We stayed at the Best Western in Williamsburg, VA with four adults and four children, expecting a clean, family-friendly experience—what we got was far from it. The room was in poor condition: the bathroom was so cramped you had to squeeze between the sink and toilet to close the door, and the shower didn’t drain properly, leaving several inches of standing water after just a few minutes. The carpet was so dirty it stained our socks. The indoor pool, a main reason we booked, was unusable due to a broken heater and freezing water. Outside, artificial flowers with tags still attached were stuck into the ground as landscaping. Housekeeping was unacceptable. We found food (an entire bag of chips) under a chair on day one, along with beer bottle caps near the bed. Trash wasn’t emptied on multiple days. Despite having four people per room, only three towels were left each day. One day, our room wasn’t cleaned at all despite informing housekeeping we’d be out shortly. The front desk insisted we’d declined service and claimed the room had been cleaned—clearly false. We were also locked out of our room after three nights, even though we had five nights booked. During breakfast one morning, a gas leak occurred—fire and police arrived, but guests were left confused without communication from staff. When we raised these issues, the manager was dismissive and hostile. This hotel does not meet the standards expected from the Best Western brand. Not recommended.

pros and cons

Painted fingernail inside bed, dirty bath tub and breakfast was cold. I did enjoy the mr coffee cup filled with maple syrup for all to use for their french toast sticks. The place could stand for an update. But the price was great and the location was fantastic. walking distance to williamsburgh restoration and a close drive to Busch Gardens.

For $80 bucks it’s a decent deal but the facilities are extremely dated and/or unfinished. I would stay again passing through but if I was vacationing in the area I would definitely attempt to find something else.

Best Western Historic in Williamsburg is lovely. It is only a 12 minute walk from Colonial Williamsburg and the area is quite pleasant. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well designed to support the traveler with a small refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast is delicious and quite hearty. There is something for everyone. I always choose Best Western when I travel because I know I will find a safe, clean, comfortable space run by people who genuinely care about their customers. There is a reason”best” is part of the name of the hotels and it shows.

I continue to stay here because of Victor and the other staff members- they are very friendly and Victor always makes sure I feel comfortable and welcome, including insisting that I always eat breakfast every morning. very clean rooms and a great experience overall!

Check in was really easy. Indoor pool had no heat pump. Breakfast was very lackluster. Beds were really firm and hard. Hotel is nice overall, but not really near any amenities.

Good: close to Colonial Williamsburg. Bad: Nail clippings on floor, cupboard wood shredded and swollen. Rusty bath light fixture. Molding detached from wall. Gross floor lamp fixture. Got changed to different room - Carpet edges all full of crud, penny, food. Broken bath outlet - safety hazard. No exhaust fan in bath. Gross black gunk under sink. Hard pillows On checkout, I discussed this with front desk and asked a manager to call me. They didn't. This is a property that neither the housekeeping staff nor the management care about. It's convenient, but that's about it.
