We were very excited for our weekend stay in Winter Park. The property is nice, well-stocked, and recently updated and the on-line listing correctly described the amenities. The location is very convenient with lots of nearby stores, restaurants, and great hiking and biking options. River views are amazing.
However, our stay was not pleasant at all due to several issues with management of the property:
1. On arrival our provided door code did not work. We called the management company and the person on the line had no way of resetting the code. Therefore we had to wait for a management person to arrive and let us in. The entire process took about 40 minutes that we spent waiting outside of the condo with 3 hungry kids who needed to use the bathroom. We were given an extra hour to check out the next day.
2. The provided internet code did not work, and again, the management company told us they had no way of resetting it until contacting the owners on Monday. Finally, after about 4 hours a person from management company stopped by to give us the right code (the first letter was not capitalized as provided to us in the instructions).
3. The heating in the unit was constantly working and set up on 78F. There was no way to turn it off or decrease the temperature. We again tried calling the management company's emergency line, left a voicemail message, but nobody called us back. We basically spent entire August night in a 78F degree heat. Opening the windows was only an option (and only provided a minimal relief) after 12:30am because there was a very loud rock concert going on in a nearby pub until that time. On the side note - It seems really wasteful to run heating on 78F all the time, regardless of the outside temperature
4. When we came back from our morning hike the next day the door code would not work again. Again, the management company had no way of resetting the code and the lady on the line told us that the code did not work because we were supposed to check out by 10am. When I mentioned that we were actually given until 11am she said she had no record of that in her notes and that there was an internet problem so she could not reset the code. We ended up waiting another 20 min for a management person to let us in with his code so we could check out.
If you want to save yourself a headache of dealing with incompetent management company definitely look for another option!
