“Just okay”
Overall, the room was fine. There were a few main concerns that we experienced. The pumps that were on the shampoo and conditioner provided in the shower were broken, so there was no way to use the shampoo or conditioner. The only other option was plugging my hair tools into the lamp by the bed and doing my hair on my bed- far from a mirror. There are no other outlets easily found on the walls in the room. The only outlet in the restroom did not work, so I had to do my hair on the bed. The room remained very hot unless we turned the fan on the AC on. That fan turned off every hour or so. This kept my husband from sleeping well because he had to continually get up to push the fan button after the room quickly reached a high temperature after the fan turned off. I am thankful that check out was simple and did not require going to the desk, because we waited in a 20ish minute line at the start of our stay to check in.
The foundry / lobby / coffee shop areas are nice and the small sitting area outside was nice. Check in was not the smoothest and we weren't able to utilize the $15 credit the first day as we had an early commitment when the coffee shop wasn't open and we weren't allowed to us it at any other time of the day.
The hotel has a really cool vibe, however there is no room service and no house keeping during your stay. They will tell you upon check in that they will provide housekeeping if requested, but we asked for sheets on one bed to be changed (they were ripped when we arrived) and they never came to change them. We also never recieved the text message to use to communicate with the hotel, so we had to go back and forth to the front desk. The duvet is also not inside a duvet cover, it is just placed between two flats sheets and is clearly not washed between guests from the stains seen on it. There was also only one usb plug in our whole room so make sure you bring a usb power adapter or wall charger. The internet router (at least that’s what I think it was) was also dangling from the ceiling. I expected to be booking a boutique hotel from the images online, but it wasn’t as I expected.
The photos online are very polished, but make no mistake that this is a motel, not a hotel. Parking was $12, though the space is located right in front of your door. I can imagine that during football season or major events, staying here could be a bit chaotic due to potential street and parking lot noise.
My stay was quiet, likely because the property wasn’t at full occupancy. Also, the walls are on the thinner side, and since I was on the first floor, I could hear footsteps from the room above.
The room had a noticeably damp feel, and I woke up with sinus irritation. (I did turn on the ac but it wasn’t helping. The decor was thoughtfully curated, giving the room a vintage 1940s–50s vibe, complete with a rotary phone and era-specific furnishings and art.
The bed was a king size, but the mattress didn’t offer the most restful sleep. This is not a four-star hotel or a four-star experience—think more along the lines of a Red Roof Inn. It was fine for a one night stay.
