We recently spent three nights at the Fire Fox cabin in Hocking Hills. Overall, we had a good experience—it was quiet, relaxing, and exactly the kind of getaway my wife and I were looking for. That said, there are a few issues that are hard to overlook. The TV in the main living area really needs to be replaced. The bedroom TV and the one on the deck were perfectly fine, which makes the poor quality of the main TV stand out even more—especially considering how affordable TVs are now.The hot tub also needs attention. About half of the jets don’t work, the control panel faceplate is damaged, and the headrests have been torn off and aren’t usable. I understand these get heavy use and maintenance isn’t simple, but it feels like these are things that should be addressed or replaced as part of regular upkeep.Another downside was the pool table setup. It likely needs to be rebalanced, which isn’t a huge deal, but all of the pool cues were in rough shape. Out of the six available, only one had a somewhat usable tip. This was disappointing since playing pool is one of the main things we enjoy on trips like this.In the end, we still had a nice time—we’re the type of people who can make the most of any situation. However, for the price, we’ve had better experiences at other cabins in the area, and we’ll likely explore other options next time.
