The room was poorly maintained, with housekeepers appearing to do the bare minimum. There were stains and smudges on walls and furniture. We were fortunate to have our small hand vacuum, which I used not only for our cat but to remove 20–30 Asian lady beetles crawling on the walls and windows—even after the night desk clerk had tried to assist. She was apologetic and visibly upset when she saw the room while moving the curtains to access the bugs. Due to the infestation, we could not sleep and chose to leave after one night instead of two, driving nearly 900 miles over the weekend while exhausted—a major safety concern given my medical issues. Our cat was highly agitated, suggesting possible lingering issues like carpet cleanliness or prior cat spraying. I gave the day clerk a ziplock bag with the collected bugs and my room keys; she seemed indifferent, saying they were “just ladybugs,” but did adjust our charge to one night.
