The best thing about this accommodation was it's proximity to the Salamanca Markets. Interestingly, in the text I received about checking in, I was told that it was a 'self check-in accommodation' and that if we arrive after 1.30pm we had to send photo ID. This was disappointing as it is nice have human interaction at check-in. Also why was photo ID needed if there was no one there to identify me???
Even for the lowish price, the room was below par. In our room, Number 28, there was a small, bashed-up blow heater that struggled to warm the room on a very cold and wet night. There was no tag on the cord to say that it had been checked for safety by an electrician. There were no electric blankets and only one spare extra blanket for two beds, hidden with the heater in the 'wardrobe'. There were draughts coming in through the front door, an open window in the bathroom that could not be closed and a large gap under the bathroom door that contributed to the overall coldness of the room.
There were ants on the 'kitchen' bench, wall and in the bathroom.
There were not grab rails in the shower or by the toilet. There was a towel rail near the toilet but it wobble badly if touched. There was no toilet roll holder and the bathroom light fitting was a disgrace, both dusty and missing a bulb which left an open socket.
I really think that this motel is in need of major upgrading to make it a nicer, more comfortable place. I would NOT like to stay there in winter
