If you have a Miami student and can get a room at the Elms (no small feat), it’s very convenient location. Clean, safe place to stay. Staff, during my last visit, were very pleasant. My room was clean. Beds comfortable. Well appointed amenities - iron, toiletries, WiFi, etc. Unfortunately my room looked out onto another building. Not a problem since I was visiting my daughter, but the two nights that I was there, a trash collector came by early morning for the other building and that woke me both mornings. Otherwise a nice stay.

Wonderful hotel in the great area. However, our room is directly across a college bar. They didn’t get quiet till 3 AM. Made it difficult to sleep.

In our first room, the bathroom was not clean- hair in the shower and floor was dirty- caps from lotion and dirt. Heat also did not work. They moved us and in the new room, the blackout curtain was half off the hooks so it would not close properly and the tissue box was empty. The common area where the complimentary coffee and tea is was filthy- trash cans overflowing and garbage on the floor. It really felt like no one cared about the hotel.

The convenience was a huge bonus, very walkable. The restaurant hours are limited dinner. The 2 downsides were no breakfast in-house, but there were places close by and the gym which is very small and very limited. Other than that it was great! If you want to experience the downtown life, this is the spot.
