Private beach area w/ fire pit I would have given it a 5 star, but we arrived after 8p, checked-in, rushed back out to get a quick meal because most restaurants closed around 8p, we found a few opened until 9p Went back to our room to wind down and relax and our door lock mechanism died, nothing worked, we called the after hour number and an assistant got their quickly and tried several keys nothing worked. Clothes and medicine was locked up for the night, within 45 minutes of trying to get access to our room, we were offered the room next door so we could at least shower and sleep, but our fresh clothes were unavailable until 8a the next morning when maintenance changed the batteries so we could get into our room. The general manager of the property should make sure there is a physical key on the property to take care of a situation like this, if we had health issues an had to take medications during the night and early morning, someone would have needed to call a locksmith If management would have offered a discount for our trouble, that would been the right thing to do, in my opinion. So that’s the reason they didn’t get a five this time I will go back again in the future, but I will remind them that this happened, so it is not repeated

Property is right on the water, beautiful view of Lake Superior. Bedrooms were clean, comfortable and one of them even had a fireplace! Staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend!

This place was beautiful! The community area had a lakeside view with a gas fireplace and new modern furnishings complete with refreshments. Our suite was on the third floor and we had a spectacular view. The bed and linens were clean and comfortable. We appreciated the full kitchen and grill downstairs that was available. They even had grilling utensils for us to use. We loved walking everywhere and hope to stay again when we visit Grand Marais. The fireplace in our room was the only disappointing feature as it’s just an electric facade.

Perfect location with beautiful views

We had a great stay at the East Bay Suites. Perfect location, right in downtown Grand Marais and on the water with lovely views of the lake. The rooms were large and comfortable with fantastic amenities. Everything worked great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ample parking. Loved the lobby as well, and the fresh popcorn, hot chocolate, coffee and snacks were great. We will definitely be staying here again during our next trip to Grand Marais.

The property was beautiful and well maintained. There was not a lot of communication regarding the deposit on the stay. I don’t mind paying the deposit for the property upon making the reservation, but it was for an odd amount and it was not make clear when payment was expected- so I was surprised when it happened. I would prefer costs disclosed and explained a bit more up front, especially when many identical businesses have slightly different policies for this type of thing.
