The walls are paper thin, and we could hear the neighbouring rooms with children jumping around and it is quite dated, the bed was not very comfortable for what we feel we paid for the accommodation it was below our expectations

This is a basic spot. We had a kitchenette cabin for a family of four. No bathroom so walked yo main one. Got the job done. It had space for our kids to play, felt safe, and allowed us to explore the area. We stayed three nights. Biggest drawback: wifi was awful, inconsistent and spotty.

Comfortable enough, nice walk to town

Night stopover for work, while comfortable enough, I felt like the nightly price was a little high (I travel a lot for work in the lower South Island ). I totally understand I was visiting for work, in peak hiking season and booked a week out, which definitely will have played its part. Demand pushes prices out. Bed was comfortable, and facilities wise there was enough to cook a meal etc. Good area, close to the lake and nice walk to town.

We had an excellent overnight stay in a king studio. Good facilities. Shower floor had a screw sticking through the Lino but otherwise all good. Excellent location.

Located close to lake which is lovely. We stayed in the 2 bedroom motel room which was clean but very dated. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything the neighbours were doing right down to plugging phones into wall sockets. May as well have been in a tent! Extremely expensive for what you get. Would not choose the same rooms again as very disappointing.

Didn't like that I had a sliding door with a veranda and seating area but the campers and the back of their vans was right on my doorstep and was my view. For privacy I had to keep the curtain closed and couldn't get natural light in the room as there is no lace curtain. It was humiliating when you asked fot my c/c to put a hold on, I felt like a criminal after you received my full payment for the booking weeks ago already, but then you couldn't make sure that there is 3 teaspoons (there was only 1) in the unit when the booking was made for 3 adults.

Fantastic stay

Great location, 5 minutes from downtown, killer views of the lake, lots of walking trails and right down the road from a bird sanctuary. Great launching place to see Milford Sound and Fiordland National Park, plus the Te Anau Glow Worm Caves! Clean room, kitchenette was great, standard clean beds. Staff were welcoming, check in and out was easy.

The single rooms are very old , the bed was terrible, very small for the average adult and the metal mesh springs are about to collapse. Blinds broken couldn’t open or close them. Beware of the photos on the website concerning the single rooms , the photos have two windows and are larger than the majority of rooms. The toilet facilities in each block are gender specific and in our block it was female only, had to leave the building and go to another one to use the toilet during the night. The showers have no shelves to place soap shampoo etc everything had to be placed on the floor. Staff were great but some upgrades are required ASAP.

Bad...

This is the worst hostel we stayed in New Zealand. It's advertised as a 4.5 stars, which is very misleading. This is more like a 1 star hostel. Bathrooms were far away of the room and dirty. Other guests were extremely noisy and you can hear everything. Kitchen and lounge are outdated and the carpets and floors are extremely dirty.

Some of the front desk staff could do with some training on what kind of language is appropriate in their positions. There was a young man and a french accented young lady that were very good. The others not so much.
