Chose this hotel because of its proximity to Grant Park (location was biggest plus). Check in was easy. Interactions with staff were not great. One example: Attempted to order room service following the directions on in room tablet. They took my order initially; however, an hour later hadn’t received food. Called down and was told that room service was not occurring anymore and was hung up on. Called again and was told they were under staffed. All that said, if you get city view, the view was amazing and I got to see Navy Pier fireworks from room. However, I would not stay again.

Staff should acknowledge one someone is speaking to them, they were paying more attention to their cell and to other personal conversations among themselves. I had to go to the Starbucks area, to have someone help me, because the person that was at the check in station would not acknowledge I was there. Also there was a smell of sewer in the restroom the whole time. The pool area adults had alcoholic drinks in the pool and intoxicated so our grandchildren were unable to enjoy the pool. The staff including the housekeepers lack courtesy towards others. I was told they accommodate me with another sofa bed and it didn’t happen, I feel I was told this to rid themselves of me also I asked for toilet paper one night and the following day the cleaning staff took it stating I was only allowed 2 rolls, I had 5 people in the room and the housekeeper was very rude, and was adamant not to return the 2 rolls she took. We didn’t have shampoo nor body wash left I called the front desk and I was told to tell who cleaned my room. The refrigerator was not working, it was replaced at 10:30 that day. I will never stay there again and my other family members will never stay there as well. The parking is horrible as well.

Very nice staff hotel was very clean and well maintained

My stay at Freehand Chicago was very satisfying. Overall, the value for the price is excellent; it’s hard to find a place that offers this level of quality at such a competitive rate. The location is absolutely great, making it very easy to get around the city and enjoy all the key spots. The only downside was that the room had a slight musty smell, which could be improved. Aside from that, the hotel is very good, the facilities are pleasant, and the atmosphere is very positive. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a great place to stay without overspending.

The outdoor pool was an excellent perk. Will stay here again.
