This is a 5 star corporate hotel without question. However, for a tourist it could be more user friendly. The restaurants are all super expensive and require reservations. There are no casual options. They need a cafe badly. The fitness area is impressive.

Noisy with disappointing “spa”. Clean otherwise

The overall stay was pleasant. Room- We stayed in a superior room which had ample space for our family of 3. However the room did not seem like it was sound proofed! Having just come from Tokyo, here we could hear what seemed like every car, motorbike passing. And we were on the 9th floor so I dread to think what lower floors could hear. The air conditioning was a bit frustrating as it’s an overhead vent so you get a blast in the face when you’re trying to sleep. This is a common hotel issue though. Spa- very very disappointing. For the grand facade of the hotel lobby, the “spa” is nothing more than a hot stone room and a naked “hot bath”. Hot stone- lay on a heated slab of stone on the floor. Hot bath, as it says but with strangers. I didn’t try the latter as you cannot use it if you have tattoos as you “must” be naked. Our next stay was at a Hilton which actually had L’Occitane spa. Save your money for other hotel spas. The gym- nice, clean, well equipped with new TechnoGym machines. A bit on the warm side for me but did what I needed.

Our stay at The One Thousand Hotel Kyoto was a refreshingly outstanding experience exceeding our expectations! We were treated to a room that was actually quiet and where everything worked as expected - with many of the room comfort preferences and hotel services accessible from an easy to navigate iPad tablet. We also enjoyed a consistently excellent breakfast buffet with a variety of freshly prepared food. The hotel is conveniently located near the Kyoto Train Station as well as extensive shopping and dining options. The only downside is how much more difficult it will be for other hotels where we will stay in the future to, sadly, come anywhere near what we experienced here.

Next to train station but felt a million miles away. Luxurious. We had spa treatments which were sophisticated and excellent. Breakfast was a step above - beautifully arranged, we ordered avocado toast and it was presented beaufifully. Remaining foods were also upscale.

Kenji-san provided exceptional service from start to finish. He greeted us and offered to store our bags as we arrived before the check-in time. When we returned he recognised us and the process to get our room was easy. We were served by Kenji-san again on our check-out and asked about our stay. Absolutely impeccable. I enjoyed the fitness room and having the water replenished every day. The use of IPad to control temperature, curtains, lighting and to call for hotel services was unique. Thank you to the staff member who had to come to my room at 11pm to give me hard pillows. Will definitely come back again!
