We thought we were going to get a renovated room as they had advertised and did not. If you get the 2nd floor ask for another room (very outdated), AC did not work, TV was maybe 15" with mostly local channels. No HBO. Showtime, or really any movie channels and the WIFI was horrendous. Staff was nice and the location was great and pretty central. The Queensway and Bayswater tube stations, restaurants, grocery stores and bakeries were only 2 blocks away. Luckily we spent a lot of time out of the room.

There were issues not properly resolved on the first day that are quite frankly ridiculous. When I arrived the room was sweltering, it was like walking into a sauna. Two fans had been placed on the bedsides blowing the hot air around, so the hotel staff clearly knew the aircon unit was broken and the room was too hot but yet they decided to hope for the best. I tried to cool it down as best I could by wedging opening the door for a while (windowless room) as the air con wasn’t working, but of course can’t sleep with the door open and it did very little anyway. Eventually around 11pm, unsure of what else to try, I went to reception and told them of the problem and asked to change rooms. There was another person at the desk complaining of the same thing and I was told that it couldn’t be resolved tonight and had to just deal with it and come back in the morning and they would change the room for the second night. I was offered a complimentary breakfast as some kind of sweetener which I did not take as expecting someone to sleep in a room over 25C is ridiculous, and I had to leave for work in 6hrs but other than change hotel completely I had very little choice. They changed the room on the second night and nothing more was spoken of it, like it never happened. I’m not very happy that the hotel thinks this is acceptable and offering a complimentary breakfast and nothing more is a good way of dealing with it. If the aircon was broken they shouldn’t have used the room.

Currently, Central Park hotel has been undergoing renovations. Every promotion picture used for their rooms is a clean, brightly lit, beautifully decorated room. The one that we got, however, smelled like dirty wet carpet. As other guests noted, there’s no AC at all in these current rooms. They just give you two plastic fans to make do. The carpet smelled so old and gross that we had to keep the window open, even at night, to air it out. This made it feel not as safe, since we were given a first floor room. Also, the walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbour speaking crystal clear, even if everyone is using a reasonable volume.

Solid 3 star hotel but AC didn’t work

Great location near two train stations. Very walkable and great food options on the next street. Very nice staff and solid hotel for the price. The water pressure in the shower was amazing! Only downside was the room was extremely hot. I asked the staff for help with the air conditioner each day and they said they would send someone to fix it but they didn’t follow up and each evening I’d return to a hot room. To the point where I’d shower and sleep on top of the sheets to stay cool. You’d wake up sweaty. If you get room L13 then ask for another room or check the AC before accepting the room.

It was a nice stay. The hotel is doing renovations so we accommodated for that but really wasn’t an inconvenience. Staff were friendly. The shower was great, nice water pressure! And the water could get hot which we enjoyed. We had the hotel book us a taxi for the airport ride home and were disappointed that in doing so it cost us an extra $40 pounds. Taxi driver told us if we had of booked direct we old have saved that much. After such a nice stay that was not what we expected. But would stay there again

The hotel is currently undergoing a full renovation, which makes the stay very difficult. Construction noise, including loud drilling and banging, goes on daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, making it hard to relax or work. Guests should be aware that it is noisy throughout the day, and the atmosphere is more like a construction site than a hotel.

Newly remodeled room is modern. The regular room is tiny that barely fit a double bed with no table, no chair or room for suitcase. Bathroom is also tiny with half enclosed phone booth sized shower that splashes water all over the floor.

The hotel is in the middle of being renovated which they did not state before the booking. When we got there the place was covered in scaffolding, the windows were covered in duct tape and plastic so we could not see out. There was a loud noise coming from the drills and other machines being used which made sleeping in the morning a challenge and throughout the day there was the strong smell of paint and dust in the air. Other than location this was not a great stay.
