The room was nice, lovely balcony. Great breakfast and wonderful helpful staff. The only complaint was the overwhelming fragrances in the lobby. So much potpourri or scented candles.

Great room, even though the price was a bit high. I asked for a handicap, friendly room. Even though there was an elevator to the third floor, there are still steps involved, which was not easy.

I loved my stay at Ellen. I am normally very picky when it comes to lodging and was more than satisfied with the room, service and cleanliness. I would 10/10 choose to stay here again if I’m ever back in London. The close (2 min walk) proximity to the tube station and lots of quick food options made everything very easy.

Best place I've stayed in London so far

This hotel is a gem of a find. Room was lovely. Bed so comfy. Breakfast was so fresh and maybe the best hotel breakfast ever had. Im not one to stay at the same.place twice as i like to try different but would definitely come back here

Great hotel but room not the best

The Hotel and bar/restaurant area is great but the room is just a strange set up and weird cupboards where you don’t need them. The fridge light couldn’t be properly blocked out as cupboard was see through.

Burn or accept to be awaken by a fire alarm. Spent 4 nights on the 3rd floor. Very clean, my room was of very acceptable size for one person ("compact double", more compact than double though), bathroom in perfect condition, great front desk, copious breakfast, excellent value. Two problems though, one minor and one major: Minor problem: the elevator is the slowest possible elevator anywhere on the planet since the invention of the elevator and then, quite often, when going from the reception to the third floor, it would actually first go to the fourth floor and then turn back down to the third. Major problem: on the first night at around 1 am, I was awaken by the fire alarm and again on the fourth night it awakened me once at 2:30 am and a second time at 5:30 am. Many people actually went down the stairs during the 2:30 alarm because it lasted for some time. They have oversensitive smoke detectors that are triggered by steam from hot showers or by spray. 2 nights out of 4 awaken by a false alarm is a bit too much and I will not return before reassurances that the problem has been fixed.

Would stay again!

We had a great 3 night stay at the Ellen! The front desk staff, breakfast staff and housekeeping staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, clean and had many amenities. We do wish there had been a luggage rack in the room. (But I’m sure one would have been brought to us if I had asked : ) The breakfast and the breakfast space were fantastic!! This hotel and it’s location checked all the boxes for us.

Location is great , staff are polite and helpful. We only used the lift 3 times and it was very small and slow. The room next to us kept setting the fire alarm off happened 4 times
