Breakfast was not up to par with comparable hotels in the area. Menu options at the restaurant for dinner were limited. Construction on a nearby room made our stay really noisy. We had been traveling a lot by train and needed adequate rest time when in our room and the construction/remodeling noise prevented this. Front desk staff never answered the phone when we called from the room. WiFi was probably the only good thing about the place.

Will be great once the construction is done.

The Hotel did not have a room for us when we showed up, which was just an hour after check in time. There was construction going on in the rooms around us. Water was turned off one day without notice.

The cleaner entered our room at 8:45am when we had an agreed checkout at 1pm due to a late arrival of 11:30 pm the night before. This was a confirmed error but when i went yo see who was at the door nobody was available to reassure me that it was a staff member. We had a late night and due to tge uncertainty, my daughter and myself was unable to return to sleep. The noise of cleaning and door slamming was far too loud for 9am, especially on a weekend and standard 12pm checkouts. The receptionist was able to confirm the error with the clearner who entered the room but asked me to suggest a way to make my stay better .. at the time i was checking out ! The reality, we booked this hotel to sleep at, which we was unble to achieve in its entirety. So what was the point ultimately

We LOVED the check in staff! Zalika did a wonderful job communicating when our room was ready as we needed to check in early! The entire staff was so kind and we would definitely stay again if we came to London! The location is maybe a three minute walk to the London Underground Piccadilly line which took us mostly everywhere we wanted!

Disappointing Stay at Holiday Inn – Russell Square I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn – Russell Square, and unfortunately, this was one of my worst hotel experiences in years. The positives: good location next to Russell Square Station, good breakfast, and excellent housekeeping staff. Sadly, that’s where the positives end. The hotel is old, dated, and extremely basic—nothing about it feels 4-star. Several elevators were out of service, and the rooms are tiny and bare-bones. The front desk staff lack basic customer service skills, and management is dismissive and unhelpful. I booked what I believed was a twin room (the photos showed two beds), but on arrival was told only doubles were available. The receptionist promised to move us the next day, but after repeated follow-ups, we remained in the same small double room for four nights. My 16-year-old son had to sleep on the floor on a towel. The room was hot and stuffy—the air conditioning kept shutting off—and there was no mini fridge, which is unheard of for a supposed 4-star hotel. I checked out early after the hotel refused to acknowledge or address any of this. Despite Expedia confirming a partial refund, the hotel denied it. Eventually, Expedia refunded me directly. To add insult to injury, after my final complaint, the hotel suddenly “found” a twin room that supposedly didn’t exist earlier. I won’t return.

The rooms were ok, two elevators were down at the same time for a few days which was a bit inconvenient. There should be different options for breakfast packages if you don’t offer free breakfast. We don’t all eat large portions so if there were cheaper packages for smaller options of food that would be better. Most staff were friendly enough.
