Good value, excellent location for tubes/buses/West End and shopping. I was three flights of stairs up - so not for the short-of-breath!

Ok I guess for the price I didn't expect too much, after climbing a flight of stairs with my suitcase to the reception and checking in I was informed my room was in the building across the street, now that was a challenge 5 flights of stairs with my suitcase. Ok now the room at 1st glance it was clean, then start looking around cobwebs up high, damp/mold in the bathroom. The noise all night from the street below, the bed was an old fashioned spring bed, with the springs worn out, the pillows were as flat as a pancake. So overall not the best of experiences in a hotel choice. Hey for $80 I guess it worked. As for the location it was excellent, close to Mayfair and New Bond street, amazing shopping are and not too far from the Tube Station.

good location, stayed for 2 nights, room was clean and comfy. Tea/coffee making facilites available, enough storage space. I was located at top flights, quite a few stairs would be unsuitable if anyone had mobility issues, but overall a good place to stay

The Mermaid Hotel has been great - it is definitely no 5 star, and probs not for everyone. Very Faulty Towers like ... It's above a shop - no lift - skinny terraced stairs - takes a while for the hot water to kick in - the floors creak - the ceiling creaks from the floors upstairs ... But ... The man in reception is really pleasant - the room was cleaned every day - it has WiFi - just off New Bond Street (the most expensive street in Lodon) one street behind Oxford Street situated between Bond & Oxford Circus Stations ... You could never go past the LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION ... I would recommend the Mermaid to anyone who owns ear plugs - understand creaking ceilings can be an issue if you are trying to sleep - and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent hotel for the value.

Lovely hotel. So central to the key trip attractors. It was a great base. Would certainly come back to the mermaid suits again. Good, warm shower, comfortable beds, and lovely warm room. Amazing value for money too. Would recommend this hotel anyway, and will be back.

Cheap, good location, get what you pay for.

I stayed for one night and needed nothing more than somewhere to crash. This hotel at £64 in a central location provided that. It is located in a set of different buildings with the main entrance by the Pizza Restaurant. There are lots of steep stairs, six flights upto my small room. Anyone getting on in years or with mobility issues or even heavy luggage is going to struggle. The room was small and dimly lit. The bed functional. A closer inspection reveals the knocks, dirt etc which would benefit from a good tidy up. Sheets and towels all clean. In summary it's a low budget place in a good location. Don't expect more and you won't be too disappointed.

We had an overnight stay in a triple room, which was very spacious and very clean. Being a February break it was lovely to have a well heated room and comfy beds. It’s not a luxury hotel by any standard but it’s in a great location and the restaurant was superb (amazing pizzas)!

Hotel stay

Room was tiny for 2 people. The bathroom was small and was hard to get out of shower. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable.We had very noisy neighbours and you could hear creaking upstairs till about 3am! Wouldnt stay here again i would give this hotel 2 stars
