The Park Plaza County Hall boasts a convenient location near the London Eye, Westminster, and Waterloo Station, ideal for sightseeing. However, its 4-star billing is grossly misleading—our experience was 2.5–3-star at best due to severe maintenance and service failures. On our final morning, a neglected plumbing issue caused the toilet to overflow, flooding our bathroom with fecal matter and wastewater. This was a disgusting and traumatic health hazard for my family, especially my three children (aged 8, 14, and 16), ruining our first UK trip.
The hotel offered no assistance during this crisis. Staff were indifferent, with the checkout attendant dismissively saying, “OK, have a good day,” despite our distress. We had to scramble to move belongings to our second rented room, without which we would have missed our train out of London. This forced us to skip our planned family breakfast. Other issues included missing hand soap, stained linens, and a gurgling toilet throughout our stay, pointing to systemic neglect.
With London’s excellent transport options, invest in a hotel where management prioritizes maintenance and shows empathy for guests. This was a costly disappointment we’ll never forget for the wrong reasons.
