Service in the restaurant was rude and the food came out cold. The TV didn't work properly. It kept turning off randomly and sometimes you couldn't choose a channel from the guide. The phone wasn't working. Went to the desk to check. Told not to use the preset buttons on the phone in the room as they didn't work but to dial the number. No one told me this. Wasn't written anywhere in the room. How would I know that and how would I know what numbers to press. Had to ring and ask twice for more toilet paper. Went to check into room at 4:30pm (well after normal check in time) and after a long haul flight and not having slept for 20 hours and told the room wasn't ready. It wasn't ready until 6:30pm. Booked a room with a view of Tower Bridge. Lovely. When I opened the curtains there was the majestic Tower Bridge. There were also workers right outside my window so obviously I couldn't keep the curtains open to enjoy my bridge view as the workers were able to see right into my room. Very disappointing stay especially the cost of the room.

The Tower

Very nice hotel. My room seemed a little aged, but it was fine. The great view of the Tower Bridge and Thames made up for the decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. I do recommend the Tower Hotel.

Overall, it is positioned well next to great tourist points of interest. The hotel though is in need of a major overhaul. I moved to 3 different rooms across 2 different floors and all had issues collective of, AC system, dusty ventilation (waking up with dry/sore throat), poor in room lighting, leaking ceiling, partially clogged sinks, etc. Considering the price per night and location this was not an acceptable stay.

Surprise sleepover

This was a surprise treat for granddaughters 9,5. Hotel over all very good amazing location. Staff very polite and kind. Gifting the children a teddy. Room view great of the docks. Room clean but disappointed we found previous guest clothing and rubbish bag(empty). Not a great intro to them staying at the Tower! None the less they had a an amazing time and are asking to return.

We had beautiful views from our river front room. However upon our arrival on August 18, there was construction on what appeared to be the AC units below the river facing rooms. Our original room was on the 3rd floor and we were awoken our first morning at 8:15am by the sound of pinging and hammers that sounded as if they were in our ceiling. The staff was accommodating and moved our room later in the day to a higher floor, however that room had a much smaller bed. Overall we were pleased with the stay, but if you’re annoyed by noises like I am then I’d be cautious as I don’t know how long they will be repairing things on the property. I’d also note the hotel room doors slam very loudly, and the cleaning staff starts fairly early in the morning. So the sound of the doors slamming repeatedly gets pretty old. Aside from those things, I would recommend this hotel.

Perfect location and stunning views

We had a fantastic stay at the Thistle Hotel! I visited with my husband and our 4-year-old and we stayed in a standard double room with an extra bed. The hotel itself was fabulous – clean, comfortable and with everything we needed. The highlight for us was definitely the bar – the views of Tower Bridge are absolutely stunning and the cocktails were delicious. It was my birthday during our stay and the housekeeping team noticed my birthday cards in the room. To my surprise, they left a bottle of wine and a birthday cake – such a thoughtful and beautiful touch that really made my day extra special. The location is also perfect, making it really easy to explore London. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Anniversary stay

We stayed for our Anniversary, which I did mention & when we arrived in our room we had a free bottle of wine waiting. We paid for a Bridge view & I have to say, the view was stunning. Like an idiot, I left my car key in the room, only noticed when we were back at the train station, but the staff (especially Marshall & the Concierge) were brilliant in sorting it out for me. All in all, a wonderful hotel with views & service to be appreciated.

25th Anniversary

It was our 25th wedding anniversary and they gave us a complmentaryvupgrade with a great view of Tower Bridge. We were also given a bottke of Prosecco and 2 flutes. Really kind of them to do thus. This is my favourite hotel in London

I like the location and scenery of the hotel. The view of The Tower Bridge was beautiful. Our room overlooked the boat dock and we kept the curtains open to look out as often as possible. The staff was nice enough and the breakfast buffet was wonderful. My complaints would be that the basic amenities I'm used to as an American, like wash cloths, an ice machine, a mini refrigerator and microwave are not included in a standard room. I was offered an upgrade for an additional $300 but I declined. These should be available for all visitors. There is a convenience store right around the corner that sold soft drinks and etc. but there was no way of keeping them cool if you weren't drinking right away. My account was also charged $75 the first day and another $77 the day I left. I'm not sure why, guess I'll have to call.
