If you're looking for a cost-effective option in central London, Zedwell Piccadilly might catch your eye – but it's a mixed bag.
The location is convenient, tucked away just off the main street, though the entrance gives a less-than-ideal first impression. It felt a bit dirty and chaotic, with a lot of noise.
Our experience with the service was disappointing. We arrived an hour before check-in and were told we'd need to pay extra for early access to the room – which we declined on principle, as it was already vacant. When we asked about leaving our bags, we were told it would cost £15 per bag. With seven bags in total, that felt excessive. Despite being offered a "deal," we opted to carry our luggage around London instead, which was frustrating and inconvenient. It’s a stark reminder of how hotels today seem more focused on profit than hospitality.
As for the room, it was basic but aligned with what we expected. It had two double bunk beds and no windows, which wasn’t a surprise. However, none of the plug sockets worked, and two bed lights were broken. Credit to the maintenance team, though – they were friendly and fixed the issues within an hour.
Overall, Zedwell is fine for a short stay if you're looking for a budget-friendly, central location and don't mind making some sacrifices in terms of comfort and service. Convenient, but basic – and definitely not the best experience.
