room was nice and clean. working out the lights was a nightmare- god knows how the bedside lights work and you couldnt get the lamp to stay on with out the room lights so it was either pitch black in the room or bright light. rooom service phone line went unanswered multiple times, the air con was redicousley noisy when it reached temp and shut down - so much so that i had to wear earplugs. the plumbing from the room next door also excessivly noisy if they had an early shower. front desk staff were great and location is very good. 2/5

The room was comfortable and spacious, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the room service was fantastic. The building was quiet and the location convenient. The only issues we came across were that the accessible bathroom wasn't wheelchair accessible due to improper installation of the bathroom door. This could easily be fixed; the doorframe and door were both built to code, but upon installation, there was not enough attention paid to making sure the door opened wide enough to allow for wheelchair access. We did mention it to the staff at the time, so hopefully it's been resolved now. Also, at 2 am on our last night, I decided to have a bath, and only after I'd transferred into the tub did I discover the bath plug was missing- oops! Had it been a reasonable hour, I might have called down for a replacement plug, but as it was so late, I settled for a shower.

We loved our stay. We stayed two weeks earlier and had shavers, moisturiser and toothbrushes however this visit we did not. Staff are always lovely, friendly and very helpful. Pillows are really uncomfortable. A few more options would be great.

The bed was not comfy, and the water pipes are ridiculously loud. Can’t help people showering in the early hours of the morning but the noise was so loud it woke our whole room up

I recently stayed at the Novotel Melbourne on Collins and found the experience fairly average overall. The rooms are quite tired and dated, with the TV and air conditioning not working particularly well. The reception staff were not especially friendly or welcoming, which didn’t make for a great first impression. The layout of the hotel is also inconvenient, you have to wait for lifts that only go to level 3 (reception), then walk to the other end of the building and wait again for another set of lifts to reach your room. On the positive side, my room was quiet and had a pleasant view over the city. The large workspace/desk was also a nice feature for getting some work done. There are definitely better hotels in Melbourne for the price, and I’d probably choose to stay elsewhere next time.

The hotel is convenient however for the price a little outdated. Rooms very dark and no proper view. Couldn’t see sky or street. Only looked out window to the roof covered section and the metal bars holding up roof. Room very quiet until early in the morning. Sounded like generators or something similar in the walls. The lobby was great though. Good bar and restaurant. Friendly staff.
