The radio was a nice touch to sitting on the private deck in the sunshine; surprisingly, there was no television available. Hotel employees were friendly and competent, although there were none anywhere in the lobby when we checked out an hour earlier before the deadline. Grass Valley is a wonderful walking city and we felt refreshed upon leaving. Hotel restaurant looked good but the menu was a bit expensive while the entrees didn't excite.

Price gouging paying SF prices and the deal I thought I scored turned out to be false. Got charged an extra 20 dollars a day. Got gouged on a happy hour drink added a 90 cent tax on a 10.00 dollar well drink. I can get the same drink for 6.50 at cirinos. Plus I have two different receipts with two different tax amounts. This is a fabulous property in amazing Grass Valley, CA. Highly recommend it! You have to come here and stay the staff is excellent, bar is beautiful and all done in a gold mining period motif! You’ll love it.

This hotel is excellent. It’s got the charm and sophistication that you would expect from a great boutique hotel and more. We booked two rooms for four guests and it was cozy, clean and the decor was everything we’d been looking for. It’s steps from great food and an awesome bar right on the premises. The gift shop on property is amazing. I spent a lot! It was really hard not to. Enjoy the Holbrook, we will be back many times I am sure.
