Peaceful Spot in Pacific Grove

This was a lovely place to rest before exploring Pacific Grove (sadly no monarchs) and Monterey. My room was large yet cozy, with a fireplace. The bed was comfortable, and everything was clean and well maintained.

The property can use a facelift. Which I think they are working on. My husband thought the breakfasts were good. The front desk staff is extremely rude! Also, you can only have your room cleaned once every four days and you must request the cleaning 24 hours in advance. It’s completely ridiculous.

The location is so beautiful and scenic and we enjoyed the breakfast. However, the room had a lot of issues. The gas in the fireplace ran out, the toilet was clogged in the morning, the sofa bed springs were so uncomfortable, and the heating was spotty(one room sweltered and the other was cold). I wanted to like this place but we did not have a good experience.

This property was decent but definitely outdated and not kept up very well. When we got to our room my husband saw the shower knob was off but luckily he was able to reassemble it himself. Paint chipping off all of the walls and scuff marks all over as well. For the amount of money we paid I would have expected it to be in better shape.

I like this property and give it four stars for the cooked breakfast offered each morning on the cottage side. The food was very good and the servers were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The room we stayed in was a little difficult to drive to because a tree at the front of the property has grown its roots into the parking lot causing a huge jump to get over. In a non suv vehicle, it may have been much more difficult to get into our parking space. We staying in a jr cottage and it was fine. Some peeling paint and very warped floors. The fireplace was a nice add but it didn’t put out much heat. They have laminate flooring in the room and no throw rugs so the rooms are someone cold. The couch in the sitting area was not very comfy for doing anything other than sitting for a short time which made it difficult to watch a movie unless you were lying in bathroom was mostly clean except for the long black hair stuck to the wall by the toilet. Very little lighting in the bathroom. Overall, we stayed for the excellent location (just a block from the ocean) and it was fine but not great.

The property was magical, my partner and I stayed valentines weekend in Pacific Grove, and this was the perfect getaway location. The staff was friendly and very attentive! Close to great coffee shops and downtown PG. We woke up to deer outside of our window which was so incredible. Would definitely recommend for a romantic getaway or even a solo trip, very safe area and close enough to the ocean to hear the waves.

Disappointed 😞

Beware if you have a bottom floor room. During our stay there were very active toddlers running around in the room all evening, and again starting at 6 a.m. which was loud enough to wake us up from a sound sleep. It also needs maintenence. Our room had water damage needing repair and a broken pole lamp in the room. Included breakfast was in a bag. Firepit is only near the cottages on the other side of the road - not near the lodge.
