The purpose for our stay was because I was having surgery in the area the following morning. I’ve always trusted Choice Hotels but my last few experiences have been subpar. I had phoned and asked for special accommodations (a first floor room near the parking lot) ahead of time because I was disabled. I was told that the room I had was near the parking lot. The paved walkway from the parking lot to the room was unsteady. I almost fell because the pavers were loose. There was no other way to get there, short of going all around the pool. Since we had arrived later in the day, we bought some food and ate in the room. It wasn’t long before the food we were eating attracted cockroaches. We threw everything out but they kept coming. When we took a shower, half of the shower door was missing. No, it wasn’t one of those fancy shower stalls. The water pooled up into the bathroom, no matter how hard we tried. There was a shampoo dispenser in the shower that was empty, which was frustrating because hotel rooms always have shampoo and I hadn’t packed any. My daughter went to get breakfast between 7:30 and 8:00 am and had to ask where the eggs were. She was met by a rude worker who made her feel bad for even asking. I have another surgery coming up but I won’t be staying here. It’s sad when the surgery was the best part of my trip. By the way, the room we had was right next to the dining room.
