We felt jerked around about the breakfast situation. We booked with it saying there was, then the website said there wasn't so we made other plans, and we got there and there was breakfast. They are phasing it out which is a negative for us. The rooms have no AC and the wall heater gives off great even when off. The pool is really a hot (warm) tub that clearly needs maintenance. That being said the front desk was friendly and nice but we won't be back.

The ceiling fan in the room didn't adequately cool off the room. It was over 85 degrees in the room at night and with the windows open. Last day people were making too much noise outside at 3am loading their car.

Enjoyable 3-day stay at Masterpiece Hotel

Generally speaking, our 3-day stay was very good. The service, cleanliness, location, ambience, etc. was excellent. However, the room was always hot during the day and evening. The hotel has no air conditioning in the guest rooms. Only a ceiling fan and patio door opening out to the balcony, which did not do much to cool the room. Consequently, we were very uncomfortable during most of the time we spent in our room, which faced the hot western sun. Only after the sun went down did we get some relief. A hotel of this caliber should provide some form of air conditioning in the rooms. Especially, since the main public areas of the hotel, including the halls, lobby and dining area were air conditioned. In addition, the continental breakfast was not as good as it should have been for a hotel of this quality. Somewhat limited variety of breakfast foods. The oatmeal also was not very good. One day it was too thick. On another day it was too thin, with excess water in it. I couldn't hardly eat it.

Our room was situated downstairs, so there was some foot traffic on the room above us which was to be expected... However, the lady in the front office had a very sour attitude and was abrupt when asked for more napkins at the morning breakfast. Not the kind of person a property needs to be greeting guests aa they arrive.. left a bad taste in my mouth. However, i did see her perk up when speaking to a male guest.. interesting..

Worst hotel experience in morro bay.

This trip with masterpiece hotel started as a problem days before we even got there. I was trying to pay with an online card, and they ran the wrong card. When we get there, the lady at the front desk isn’t nice but isn’t rude. She wasn’t very happy with having to give us an upgrade because she could not find our reservation I had booked a month before. Our room had hair all over the bathroom, and there was still trash on the floor. The spa in the bottom basement was filthy, it literally had dirt in the bottom of the spa. The water was green and did not smell like chlorine at all. There was dangerous building materials outside of the balcony. I got a rash from God knows what. Honestly, I should’ve stayed at Motel six. We were looking forward to staying here for years and it was very disappointing. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was probably one of my worst stays anywhere.

The property in itself is unique. So much detail in the rooms. The spa is large, indoor and unique with pillars and tile. Free parking and free breakfast is a must for us when we stay somewhere, so we're happy it has both of these! Very close to the bay. Clean and very spacious rooms. Gym and sitting area for 24 hour coffee.
