When we checked in, the manager at the desk had a huge wad of chewing tobacco in his mouth that was visible and I could smell it all through the lobby. This was very off-putting. The rooms were clean enough, but the pillows were extremely small and uncomfortable so several of my athletes complained about being sore the next day.

Very friendly service and good areas for parking. Seems like they were undergoing construction at the time, so the lot was a little beat up. No construction noises disturbed us. Older structure with older amenities, but for the bargain I would stay here again.

Good for a quick stay in SLO

Rooms have been remodeled. From being location to downtown SLO AND Cal POLY. Good for a couple of nights stay at $150 or less nothing luxurious. Would not be the crazy prices when Cal POLY has something going on ($250+ per night).

We stayed here as a good stop over from one place to San Francisco. We were really surprised at how nice it was. Great stay. Highly recommended. Super clean! All upgraded nicely.

They refrigerator not cleaned, there are leftover food from previous occupants. It said free continental breakfast but nothing offered except banana and cheese croissants. There was no continental breakfast, would not recommend.

Great location, price and newly remodeled pool!

Great for what we needed. Most definitely budget-friendly route. Limited working outlets. Quiet grounds and remodeled pool is ready once it warms up! Bring your own pillow.

This little motel is very clean. The rooms are basic. Our room had a microwave and fridge. The fridge made a bit of an outer-space sound when it ran. There is an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer. Spent 2 nights and were surprised to return to a room that had been cleaned and towels replaced. The included continental breakfast is very basic: some egg and sausage muffins to reheat and a pastry. The Keurig coffee is excellent. If you like Half ‘n Half, bring your own. The breakfast also offered apple juice and water in bottles. University Inn is a step up in amenities from some of the other inexpensive motels up and down Monterey. I’ve stayed a few times.
