When I first arrived, the Legacy Airedale Hotel looked far more premium than I expected, which was a great first impression. Check-in was genuinely friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade, which I really appreciated. The room itself was very nice, comfortable, and well presented. The location is excellent and made it easy to get around Auckland. Overall, there was pretty much nothing to fault during my stay, and I would definitely stay here again. The only small downside, which is not really the hotel’s fault and is very common elsewhere, was that there were limited gluten-free, celiac-friendly food options. It would be great if staff were a bit more knowledgeable about allergies, and if guests with allergies could find out in advance what food options would be available during their stay.

We arrived early to check in due to a cancelled flight hoping to leave our bags but the lovely lady sorted an upgraded room for us. It was great with a spacious living/ kitchen area. Great central location. 10 minutes walk to the SkyCity airport bus.

The room is nicely decorated, clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable, there was a nespresso machine and a small fridge. The location of the hotel was great for what we wanted it, which was across the street from the Town Hall. The room had a spacious sitting area. However, the bathroom was quite small. The space between the bed and TV to go to the bathroom was very tight and the view from the window… well, the worse we have ever had in a hotel. There was no view because the windows were frosted due to the fact that outside was some horrible area of the building where the aircon duct was located, or at least we believed so. Of course, with frosted windows, the lighting wasn’t great. The worse thing about the hotel was the buffet breakfast during the weekend. There was nothing redeemable about it. Like the view, it was the worst breakfast I have ever had to pay for. We had stayed at the hotel once before and the room, of the same kind was much better, so I suppose we were unlucky with the room we got this time.

When I was here for 2 days, the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. The staff was excellent, but they were very busy. Maybe someone just called off sick or something and maybe this was unusual. I don’t know.
