The bed was horrible, the cold water tap only provided luke warm water. The morning of our departure I took a shower in scalding hot water. There was no way to add cold water to cool the water down.

The hotel is located about 10 minutes away from Legoland. The freeway is next to it. A bit noisy, but didn’t bother us. Property is a bit outdated, but not a big deal. Pros: near Legoland, freeway, & shopping center (Costco/fast food). Our room was in front of the elevator so we didn’t have to walk much. Beds were comfortable. It had a working AC. It had a microwave which we didn’t use; who knows if it worked. Cons: the room was stuffy; had to have the AC on or else it got super hot. Outlets did not work. The very few that worked were very loose. We had to blow dry our hair on the floor, while holding the connection so it wouldn’t fall off and disconnect. The bathroom stunk like bleach, which gave me a headache. The room itself was clean & presentable, but the shower walls were dirty. The remote control didn’t work properly. We had to press the up/down button very slowly and wait for it to change. Sadly, my 8 year old daughter was trying to find something for them to watch and they came across a naked man and saw their front private area. After that, I said no more tv. The food was the same for both days (plain yogurt, cereal, instant oatmeal, overly seasoned potatoes, watery scrambled eggs, thin bacon, tortillas for burritos, waffles, sliced toast, bagels & fruit). I would suggest to change up their breakfast options. The dining room is limited/small, but they do have an outdoor area. 1 staff in the dining room is not enough. Tables & food area was dirty or under stocked.

I booked this hotel because I have stayed with Wyndham before and my stays have always been pleasant until now. I booked a king room with fold out mattress and after going into the room the odor of urine was prominent. When I went to the front desk they sent us to a new room that was smaller and the condition of the room was less than what was expected. The room smelled of smoke. The room was smaller than the one we originally booked and we were not given a reimbursement for the downgrade in the room. The room was in poor condition. I will say cleaning staff cleans the the room daily but the atmosphere of the room was definitely not what we payed for.

The bathroom did not have a sink and was small and looked like one you’d find at a cheap motel

The very friendly staff was the only redeeming quality about this property. The bathroom was gross, the toilet was hooked up to hot water, so it was consistently humid in the bathroom and the toilet seat was moist. There was also police activity during our stay, we saw them arrest someone our first evening, and saw the police come back the following day. The walls were thin and between that, the freeway, and the constantly running toilet, it was a noisy night. Would not recommend or stay here again.

The property is nice, staff were polite, and professional. Rooms can use a makeover or deep clean especially restrooms. The sink faucet had a lot black/white residue, and so did the shower. I would say restrooms need a good deep clean or replacement of faucet/shower-head. Other than that it was really close to everything and parking was very accesible.

It’s definitely just a place to lay your head for the night out of desperation . Upon entering there was a noticeable moist smell and The furniture was visibly damaged. The shower was horrible , there was mildew and uneven paint in there . Lastly, I had to put my luggage back into my car to prevent from taking home one of their guest.

Extremely clean hotel despite it being old. There was visible wear and tear (crack in sink, tear in wallpaper) but I needed a cheap place to sleep not luxury comfort. I was VERY impressed with the check in process and the staff accessibility. I called a couple times and someone always answered from the hotel not an 800 phone number. Parking was free and there was plenty of parking and I felt safe as I came late each night. I left my favorite hat in the hotel room and when I called, they said if they find it they would mail it to me, but I haven’t heard anything so I am sad about that. I would definitely stay at this La Quinta again. I appreciated the reviews of other people talking about how clean it is.

I recently stayed at La Quinta in Santa Clarita, California and thought it was an amazing property. So when I needed to travel to Carlsbad, I expected the same from the La Quinta chain. Boy was I surprised. This is actually worse than a rundown Motel 6. We walked into our room and it smelled like swamp water due to the disgusting molded air conditioning unit. It was literally leaking water outside of our hotel room the entire stay. Our bathroom didn’t even have painted walls and it looked like they tried to cover up black mold. They did not deliver towels daily, even though there were signs on the wall that said that they would. I tried to use the washing machines and needed to have cash in quarters to use them and most of them were. All of the gym equipment was broken. The breakfast was so unbelievably crowded because it was in such a small area and they had the same menu every day which is much different from the other La Quinta that I have stayed in. I couldn’t even get creamer in my room. I have always been a fan of La Quinta, but will now never stay there again after this horrible experience. My room key demagnetized at least 20 times while I was there, and I was consistently at the front desk, getting new keys and wondering if somebody might be breaking into my room. And now that I know the Carlsbad area a little bit better, I discovered that I could’ve stayed in a Westin or a high-end hotel for the same exact price. Lesson learned. Never again.

The room was clean and comfortable. I just didnt realize how close to the freeway the hotel was. I am a light sleeper, so for me personally it made for a restless night. My child however slept soundly. The breakfast was packed (hotel is popular and budget friendly) but we also arent picky breakfast eaters so it had what we needed and more. The pool is small but the kids looked like they were having fun and the lounge area had a chill vibe. Ive stayed at various hotels in that area and this is the best deal. It’s just has a noisy freeway next to it. Id stay tjere again but bring headphones or request a room as far from the freeway as possible
