Don’t clean

Didn’t clean the room. You must request room cleaning, as they claim this is to save the environment. Really it saves a lot in costs for the hotel, even after requesting our room to be cleaned it wasn’t. Not what you expect for a hotel of this price

Extremely convenient location to see and explore Monterey Bay. Our family with two small children were able to easily walk to the aquarium, the wharf and the delicious restaurants and bakeries. The room itself was clean and quiet. It came with everything we bneeded to stay comfortably

We’ve stayed at the Portola half a dozen times and always enjoyed ourselves. The staff is friendly and attentive, the property is well kept and the location gives you easy walkable access to the pier and to downtown.

I would have loved to have a microwave in the room. Every day, the room seemed to get surprisingly humid while we were out and we opened the window to cool/dry it out. All that said, we had a great time.

the first room we had smelled horrible. They quickly and kindly changed us to another room. The rooms themselves were perfectly fine and clean. Low ceilings made them feel small. The first day I tried to shower but had no hot water, just barely lukewarm. I complained on the text they sent asking how my stay was... never got a reply. I let it go. The next day the hot water was back. It was difficult to adjust the temperature in the room and the hallways were freezing. The lobby is beautiful, and the location is fantastic. The pool (if you can find it) is fantastic for children, but not suitable for adults. The friendly staff helped make the mediocre and expensive stay enjoyable.
